Hi there guys I'm new in town ! Thanks for having me ! I have a 06 fe 450 that I have had no problems with but last week I got a fc600 for cheap but has been siting for some time ! The guy said it ran when parked but when I got it home there was no spark !!!!! I don't know the year but the frame number is
Yu7fc6000p0000062 I have been told it's a 93 and a 96 . The bike has a sem stator and a red sem amal coil . The stator is putting out volts but how do I test to see if I'm getting the volts I need ? My head tells me to test the stator but hart says it's a problem with the coil . Ps the rubber from the carb to the head is split so I need a new one where can I get one in the USA ? Thanks for any help

welcome :)

for parts for the oldies in the US the people here seem to say Motoxotica ...

best of luck!!

Hi and Welcome

Sorry but didn't understood, you have a 06 bike (kokusan) and you used a red SEM/AMAL coil ???

Start with Dan from Motoxotica, then Rick at Boss, then Taffy (only cuz of the shipping do you wait to contact Taffy, good stuff, fast shipping and nice staff - it's just better to order more than one thing from Taffmeisters). There, all the plugging I can do!

I made a note to myself back when I was testing stators of this vintage and it would appear that a resistance test between the black and red wires should yield somewhere around 1750 ohms and between the black and green wires should be around 23 ohms. If it's significantly off from those numbers, there's probably a short in the windings somewhere and it won't want to start and/or run.

Incidentally, I've had Sparks rewind a stator of this vintage and I'm thrilled with the results. The bike runs great and starts quite easily.

Also, ditto on Motoxotica. Dan tries to keep a spare Sparks-wound stator on hand at all times just because they have such a poor history. Dan also has several floors of his building filled with old parts and I'll bet he's got a carb to head boot somewhere. If not, I've been having really good luck buying parts for these old bikes on ebay.

yeh I've got lots of running stuff. not so hot on cycle parts though!

I have recon stators here for that genberation and also a new red coil here!

damn! I even have new flywheels that nobody else has got!

regards

Taffy

Out in force !

Thanks guys ! Good to know your there ! Didn't think that much help was coming . Has anyone had a fc600 ? What are they like ? Is it gona blow up ? And if so what go's ??????? I'm thinking of making a cheap supermoto with it ( as if there was ever a cheap motorcycle )

10th character of the vin is a P so its a 1993 and #62 of the production run.

The weakest link is the camshaft roller bearings. Taffy has them.

Should I change them

Should I change them or just keep an eye on them ? What are the fc600s like to ride ? Will it make a good supermoto ?

If you're already there, change them. Cheap insurance. What berg doesn't make a good sumo? grunt, power, rev range and it's a berg . .... yup, makes a good sumo!

I have a '96 fc600 that I'm currently restoring. It's an absolute blast to ride and doesn't really give up much to the best bikes of today. Is yours a 4 speed or a 6 speed? I've found that I really like the close ratios of the FC transmissions...but I'm a bit strange that way when most like the wide ratios of the FE transmissions.

One of the best modifications you can make to the performance of the engine is a Keihin pumper carb. I have one on a 501 ('95 vintage) and another on this '96 and, in both cases, they run awesome! Taffy has a great jet kit just for this setup.

Mine is a 6speed ! Can't wait to ride it !!!!

Hi ! How much is the coil for a 1993 fc600 ? Thanks
define coil, any why do you think you need one.
and way to go burying your question in a thread that has little to do with your question.

I've got two red ones here that work. one is brand new and the other is used.

regards

Taffy
