Hi there Steve,

For us to be able to help you, we're going to need some information.

What are you expecting of the bike?

What's your main motivation for choosing(price, performance, low maintenance)?

What color underwear do you have on right now?

We can't really tell you which bike to pick if we don't know anything about what you want to do with it, or what's most important to you.

That last question is especially important.

thanks,

1. Big smiles and plenty of grunt

2. I was gunna part x my gsxr600 k4 in for a new sxv550 but gunna buy a supermoto instead and keep gsxr so £4000 is really my limit but £3000 would be ideal.

3. Not sure you need to no this 1 but Blue

4. I just want a fun bike i can rip up the twistys power wheelie and go green laning if i fancy.

Cheers Steve

Then I think we can in good conscience tell you to try to get that or another Husaberg if you can keep it in your range. The 2005's are a pretty solid bike, and if I remember correctly, DCR was making any necessary upgrades before letting them out the door. Somone on your end of the street can say better than I, but I remember this being said in the forum last year. Main bearing swapout, IIRC.

Keep in mind that a Husaberg will require more maintenance than most Honda's, but if you don't mind setting valves and other garage time rituals, then it shouldn't put you off any.

IMVHO, if you can grab a 2005-2006, then you're going to have a lot less to do maint. wise than those of us with older bikes. From all accounts coming in on the forum, it seems that Husaberg is getting closer to minimal PITA factor when acquiring one of their rides.

Good luck!

PS-I've run the color of your undies through the Husaberg Ownership Feasibility Algorithm Equator, and indeed, it seems that you're destined for Husa-world.

For what it may be worth:
Based on your intended application and the fact you are coming off road bikes Purchase the 650.

Is the ebay link i've put up a 2005 bike because what i can gather from the net it looks like a 2004 model i'm i right ?

Just a quick judgment based on the graphics and trip computer, it appears to be an '04. AFAIK, '04's are a solid year.

Regarding a previous statement about most Hondas being lower maintenance than 'bergs...that's true except in the case of the Honda which you're considering. The new edition CRF, both the R and the X models, have maintenance schedules similar to other "race bikes" like Husaberg, KTM, etc. Plus, a number of them seem prone to valve and tranny problems. Not a slam on Honda, but I know what's being said and I certainly know the experiences of some of my riding buddies.

The red bike is a rolling problem....knew two guys that have them and they aren't any good....absolutely not enough power for the street.....
The Katoom is ok but has gasket issues/leaks after the rigors of pavement...no cush drive neither...ok power but alot of inertia from the spinning mass....non e-start and heavier than the Berg when ready for the road.......So whats left.......The 650 does everything the others do but way better....get that bike and pour carbon fiber all over it with a black tank.......now you have a street tard that rules...don't forget the jet kit and Akro exhaust.......throw some pirelli Diablos on that bad boy with some black rims..... oh yea !!!
A KTM 625 SMC is a cool bike and the Husky 610 is cool as well but has suffered gasket issues as well not a very good dealer network....

Buy the Berg !! 8)
