Hi, and thank you for letting me join the forum.

Just bought a 2006 Husaberg 650 FE with SM wheels. It has a grinding-like noise when I use the gears to brake (reminds me of cam chain noise). Is this normal?

I just got to try it for a little ride before I bought it. Then we had to take off the front wheel to make the bike fit in the car we drove. Will try it out more today.
The clutch seems normal, but I have been thinking it maybe the drive chain that is too slack? Just hope it's not some big issue.

I have had a similar problem. My FS would make a grinding noise on deceleration. In my case it was the drivechain. The chain grinds on the inside of the frame. Too much chain slack can cause this, but in my case the chain itself was too wide. Some chains have thicker link plates, which can make the chain 2-3mm wider than another chain. I swapped the chain and the noise was gone.

Got rid of the sound by tightening the drivechain :D Guess I have to prepare to change the piston, crank bearings etc. after a while, it's been 60 hours since last time it's been done. Do you follow the 100 hour interval regarding the bearings, or do you hear it clearly when it's time to change?

you go for as long as you can. until something sounds wrong or it smokes. it'll smoke when the piston is tilting and the rings can't seal.

they are certainly good for 200+

regards

Taffy
