So I recently just purchased a husaberg 550fc 2003 in a swap deal with a lad I know, he got my 1996 cbr600ft witch had very high miles(51000) & I just lost interest in flying about the roads, so a few mates of mine taked me into green laning. So I thought mint let's get among that action, I was told the husaberg needed some work done(apparently the bottom balancer shaft bearing) we began the strip down & found the camshaft lobes were totally screwed. Shavings off mental all over the place. Got further down & piston liner was ruined as well as the piston & con rod at this point I was pretty sick to be honest but a lad I know had a 501cc engine for it that's just had a new liner & piston, so I've recently purchased that at a good price to start my rebuild witch is so much cheaper then doing a new parts total rebuild. I'm very new to this off roading world so I'll learn as I go & will keep people posted on the rebuild

take his crankshaft as well and then you have the rod etc.

I do an aftermarket rod that I sell for the 501. but I won't sanction it for the 550, the 501 is tested, the 550 isn't so someone else can try it first but not from me. the 501 is excellent though.

I had stepped pins made by Max Nightingale of Alpha bearings in Birmingham. I only found out yesterday that max has died aged 59 years from Chron's disease. shi...... max you were a brilliant bloke and helped me out many times with both grace and warm spirit.

I've got everything you need and I'm in Cumbria at Dean Moor this weekend. I have rebuilt a 650 '02 engine for a sidecar crosser.

cheers

Taffy

Thanks Taffy, I'm just going to wack the 501 straight in, only got to change the mount & kick start as it's not the best in this engine, I'm going to clean my 550 engine done & probably sell what I can
