So I've been into bikes my whole life and a couple years ago got myself into a 2005 fs650e. Its a love/hate relationship with this beast. The tail-light is barely visible, pretty sure the stator isn't working and the exhaust restrictor plate (pretty sure thats what its called) was loose and basically choking out the engine. I fixed that by drilling a couple 1/2" holes in the plate. Kinda ghetto but it worked and it definately gave it some more pep. Still have yet to fix the brake light and charging issues. But those things have taken a back seat right now seeing as the bikes not running. It doesnt help that the kickstarter fell off on a recent trail ride. I ordered a new from the guys at first class motorcycles in australia and should be here in 6-8 weeks. Just in time for winter here in the frozen north lol. Currently my bike is in a local shop where they're trying to figure out why it wont start. I am considering doing an engine rebuild and getting the usual starting issues sorted at the same time. Any info on this and the upgraded parts I should get would be greatly appreciated.
This is an awesome bike and I know I'd regret it if I had to sell it. I just need to get it to the point where I can start it first kick or even first push of the button
. Future plans for the bike are to get a timbersled track kit for it and dirt wheels and tires. Even throwing around the idea of an aftermarket fuel injection system for the beast... everyone says its silly and a properly tuned carb will do fine???? Anyways the main goal right now is to get it running and then probly rebuild. All thoughts and info are greatly appreciated. Thanks
