Very nice bike, I wonder when GG will come with a 250 4T Enduro, this little thumpers are goetting popular, TM, Sherco, KTM, 4JPs, etc...

What is interesting is that it is a flathead motor. That's why it is so compact.

how are the valves operated then?
Not by a camshaft?

Re: RE: Here is another different 4T

Looks a bit like the old side valve set up or like my 2Kw Honda generator engine, the two small red caps are where I think you adjust the valve clearences, and it makes the engine very compact and the cylinder head is just like a two stroke head.
Hope they put more into the Gaser than Sherco did with theres.

Regards

Sparks.

Hm,
to me, this new engine looks like a convential 2-stroke with a 4-stroke sticker on it...
Even on www.gasgasmotos.es is nothing mentioned about a 4 stroke-engine

Check out the wall behind the bike. It clearly states new 4 stroke trials engine. I read a blurb about it in a dirt bike magazine somewhere. Flathead motors are much more compact which would reduce engine height. Check out the exhaust and where it exits the engine. Cool idea.

Check out the wall behind the bike
That´s what I did - checked out the wall and couldn´t see any relation to what is in front of the wall...(and still can see no=
To me it looks as if the pics have been taken before public days (almost no visitors to see) - so, might it possible that gasgas wasn´t able to deliver the bike in time?
And instead of leaving the space blank, they just placed a convential bike with a new sticker kit there?
I´m not saying that they don´t have a new 4-t engine, but i doubt that the one on the shown pics is one.

pls. proof me wrong
regards
peter

Just to put in my opinion...
If it was a 2 stroke..the inlet manifold would be situated lower down. I.E. into the crankcase. It is set up more like a conventional cross flow head. So it is more like the old conventional overhead valve arrangement of the old 4 strokes. The side valve theory is interesting as that would be another rediscovery of British motorcycle engine technology from 1908-1910! the japs had a lot of success from re-inventing oval pistons and direct drive!!

See the pic below,

Well there you go ...that picture/schematic shows that it is a re-invention of side valve. And the clutch release mechanism is reminiscent of the old 1960's designs!!!

Flatheads or side valves produce great amounts of torque but are limited due to the port design to the amount of peak horsepower they can produce. For trials this is ideal plus the engine height reduction. Cool idea!
