Hi all,

heres my problem. I have 2000 Husaberg Fe600e, when I clean the plug it fires right up runs for like 2-3 minutes then an oily/gas substance starts leaking from around the air-cleaner, there is also residue on the head gasket. does this just mean I have a blown head gasket?

thanks for your time,

Nick

possibly you have way to much oil in the bike? when cold the oil should only come up to mid way on the sight glass. edit. i don't think the 2000's have a sight glass. At oil change add only 800-900 cc 1000 is pushing it as there will always be about 100-200 cc left in the motor.

I always tilt my '98 FE600E (similar engine to the '00) a bit to the right & fill it with oil till it overflows out the fill hole - probably 20 or 30mm higher than the recommended level. It holds about 1.3 litres when filled this high. I can't say I've had any significant problem with oil though coming out the engine anywhere. A mate did mention a puff of oil smoke once under throttle though.

It sounds like you might have significant blow-by pushing out lots of oil spray? I assume the crankcase vent is still connected to the airbox? If it is, disconnect the hose & see if it pumps lots of vapour out. Unfortunately it could indicate ring/piston problems.

hello nick

welcome to UHE fella! do you think you could put your mo-sheen and loo-kay-shon in your signature for us so we know as much as possible about who to contact etc?

after all - we may have a member lives around the corner from you!

now the oil in the airbox is a worry! is it dribbling down the inside of your frame tube? pull the air filter to look. did it shoot back through the carb to get like that?

how well does it run? rough? poor starting? uneven tickover?

could be that you have engine wear problems because fouling plugs go with poor carburation, poor stator health but also rings/piston wear.

so let us know mate?

regards

Taffy
