HELP! Water pump pin broke 05 FS450C

05 FS 450C Bike has been making some louder than normal noise, so I check the valves. Little tight, I adjust and fine. try the bike and it is still loud. check to see if the main nut backed off and water pump pin was broken in 3 pieces. slight damage to the propeller.

What could have caused this? the propeller rubbing the cover might be the sound I heard.

what do I do now???

Is water pump shaft OK? If so just get a new pin and impeller. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me...

how do I check the wp bearing and/or shaft for play??

take the impeller off and wobble the shaft ? if still not sure just remove the whole clutch cover and inspect visually

pin is about $3.00 but can make a longer one out of a drill bit.

be careful not to snag the water shaft seal when taking off the cover, its a really sharp edge on the end of the waterpump shaft where clip locking the water impeller. and remember to put your finger on the kickstart shaft so that it wont slip out of its place, just make sure you dont drag the kickstart shaft out when pulling the cover off.
