Today out with my pals who all ride r1s gixers and the like I was flying on my berg fs650 sm setup when riding at a bit pace in 5th suddenly a big drop in power then I pulled clutch in to change down and engine just stopped let clutch back out and berg pretty much locked up???? Please help I've only owned 2weeks and only done about 120-30 miles in 4 outings it's a 52 fs650 . I need to no what it could be and who the best to fix and of course the Killa HOW MUCH!!!!! Also im in the north east of england Thanks kind people
 
Sounds like it's seized up!

Does it still have water in the rad? And oil?

Can you turn it over now it's cold?
 
Yeah has both oil and water it's defo seized kick start is solid won't budge :angry:

Is there anyone on here anyone could recommend to maybe enlighten me on my options plz
 
I would start by pulling the clutch main cover. That should give you a good view of many of the suspected culprits.
Prime suspects.
1) timing chain
2) main bearings
3) balancer bearings
Or anything in between.
 
Ok cheers guys! Been told dave Clark racing probs the best person to take bike to anyone disagree with what I've been told ???

If you want to give me a call Kev I can offer best advice.

I would guess that a look inside the rocker cover and left cover will divulge most problems

Well am pickin me bike up sat morn gonna get it back home and start stripping and checking out poss damage will be in touch with next steps
 
Right got bike home!!! So tonight dropped oil to see if there was any metal fragments in .................and nothing!!!!!
Oil was very black and there wasn't much let in. About 3/4 of litre , not enough I no so now am thinking its a top end seize as oil has been starved but that's just me bein hopeful a guess. Next step sat morning gonna take rocka cover off then take it from there!
If it is only a top end seize what does this entail fellas?????

Well started stripping bike today and there is loads of alimimium pieces inside which tells me piston has melted but can't get head off cos camm chain seized solid so can't get bolts out to release cams so now am a bit stuck wise words would be greatly taken and if it is piston where do I get all parts from and is there any upgrades I should do to prevent this as best as I can from happening again

the piston won't have melted Kev. it could be a valve head has dropped off and chunked stuff.

use a grinderrette to get the camchain undone. after a vicious lock-up like that you won't want that cam chain back in again anyway.
