Guys been throught all the poor starting guides and the bloddy thing still won't go. It will start with a bump and it is mostly okay after that but if left for a couple of days it won't fire again. It didn't have this problem before it has just been over the last month or so. I like my Berg but the frustration is setting in PLEASE HALP.

Mitch

I'm afraid we need abit more info if you want some help!
What are the symtoms? Has it got a spark, when kicked, is the plug ok etc etc etc

Good spark when kicked and when wound on e start although tend not to try and start it cold on battery. Have charged up battery also checked valve clearances cleaned all electrics it just won't catch problem is as mentioned once started its okay just won't start from cold. Tried a new plug as well. Stripped and cleaned carb although it was okay. If I can give you any more info please let me know your my only hope............................

Has this suddenly happened all by itself or did you or anyone else do any work on it? Any minor symptoms just before it started?

Just seemed to happen only thing done prior to it was oil change nobody has been working on it apart from me so I know what has been done. I just can't seem to sus it out.

Cheers.....

Mitchie

where are you based?

secondly, if i was that exasperated i would have taken the bike to a dealer a long time ago.

If you have carefully gone through the guide it may be time to pull the head off and have a look at the valves. They maybe tuliped. Your symptoms are similar to the ones I had with my 470 when the valves went south. The bike was very hard to start cold unless you used either or carb cleaner sprayed directly into the intake boot. After it started it ran ok, although a little slugish.

Taffy I live beside Aberdeen we have a Husaberg dealer up here but there seems to be more knowledge and info available here than anywhere thats why I have come to you guys first. Will go over everything again tonight from start to finish and try again will maybe try the carb cleaner trick in the intake and see if that works.

Will let you know what happens

Cheers.........

Pulled down carb again and cleaned / did the valves agiain checked electrics again turned round 4 times , jumped in the air predded the button and

Nothing tried agin and

Yahoo shes going again swithched it of and tried again and she started like a new one Oh how I love my Berg

Cheers for the advise guys....................

My FE 99 FE 501 is also hard to start if it has been sitting. Getting lots of help and advise from this site I have found that if I crank the trottle up to maybe 10 times before doing anything, then kick start it with a really full rotation kick, the bike will fire within a couple of kicks every time.

If below 50 I have to use choke-Otherwise not

Good luck,

Hakan

This is the same exact thing that happened to my 501 awhile back. The valves were replaced and all has been fine since!

It is very likely your float valve sticks shut. BOTH of my bergs have this problem. the reason they don't want to start is because they are not getting enough fuel even though the plug may appear to be damp. tap on the float bowl with a small hammer and this sometimes works. or take your bowl off and look at the valve when it will not start to verify the cause.

My float has stuck once or twice on me before too. The side of my float bowl has pein marks where it has previously been tapped.

If you're gonna belt it, just be gentle! In a previous life I repaired the side of the slide area on a TS250X carb with metal filled epoxy that had been cracked out by the previous owner who had been "tapping" it.

Have you tried turning the idle screw in 1 to 2 turns when cold? This seems to work on my 96 fe400 with the stock Delorto carb.
