Well, if you didnt see my other post, i must have done something wrong when i put my motor back together because i melted it down sunday. I rode it saturday for about an hour and was getting on it really hard on a track. it was working awesome and it felt really good to be back on a bike. sunday i was doing some carb tuning and was blasting down the road by my house, had it sixth gear WFO for a bit then was just cruising back and it started to seize up 8O well i pulled in the clutch and it kept running. i took the clutch apart and the trans was making some noises. just by turning the motor by hand i could feel some slack that I would rather not feel, I feared the worst and my fears just became reality as i split the cases. the bottom end of my rod is trashed.
im trying to figure out why this happened, only thing i can figure is no oil. isnt it pressurized? I pulled out one of the bolts on the cam cover when it was running and the crap just shot out, so the pump is working.
BTW the trans appears fine, no missing teeth or pitted gears, i think i must have a bent shift fork.
another thing, looking through the parts manuals in the 02 manual the 501 and 550 have a different rod part number, in 03 they are the same number. which one do i want to order?
