I got a tank from boss this week and while trying to install it found out that the right hand gas line is no where near the petcock. I also did used the factory shrouds to place the tank even though on clarke's web site they say it doesn't (http://www.clarkemfg.com/cart/index.php ... ucts_id=96)

1.Am I suppose to use a different gas line? Rick at BOSS said not but maybe he misunderstood me.

2.Do I need to run the lines differently? maybe between the carburetor and the engine? I though that been so close to heat coming from the engine is a no-no

3.for the time been I wrapped a piece of vinyl around the unattached gas line, is that a bad idea?

There are probably 2 or 3 ways to handle this, but I did something of a re-route that also serves to keep the exhaust side fuel line safely away from the hot midpipe. It's easier to do than to explain, but get some new (and longer) fuel line. You can "spin" the inlet on the carburetor so that the right side petcock feeds its fuel line more directly to the "t." If you use just enough line, it will "pull" on the "t" so that the whole assembly stays away from the exhaust. You can then just measure and cut some line that easily feeds the left side (kick stand/exhaust side) to the "t."

It can take a bit of fidgeting to get the length of fuel line just right for the right side petcock, at least if you want the "pull" to keep the lines from the exhaust. It needs to be short enough to pull, but not so short that getting it on and keeping it on while you hose clamp it becomes a frustrating exercise.

I don't know if this helps.

Thanks Blake. I visited your Smugmug gallery hoping to find a pictures of this set-up but couldn't (great galleries though..) I did bought some 3ft lines from cycle gear today (didn't know what size so just bought 1 of each), and I'll try what you said tomorrow. On the right side though I was able to use the original line. just had to straighten it and it fits exactly.

Thanks
Mati
