I just bought a 95 Husaberg fe501. The only thing that is wrong with it is the one way gear is shot. I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to remove the timing chain though. Does anyone know of any kind of video or free manual that I can get ahold of that will walk me through it step by step???

Also, does anyone know where I can find and buy the one way gear?

Thank you very much in advance!!!!!

Do you mean the Freewheel Clutch or Sprague Bearing for electric start models?

If so the part is still listed as available ( but keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer )

Part Number 250 141-01 $232.26

You will have to split the cases to extract the gem.

Look up parts for your old Berg here: Munn Racing Online Shopper

Taffmeisters has one listed that will fit 98-2000, check with them:
Taffmeisters - Husaberg, KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas, dirt bikes - servicing, tuning, rebuilds, parts

Try to find a 1998 workshop manual (this covers models up to 2000) and then members here can help fill in the blanks. Most info is already in the archives here at this site. Just do a search.

Thank you for the reply and help!

I apologize, its the Sprague bearing for the electric starter. Oh wow!!!! That's pretty high. I called 3 brothers racing out of Riverside And they said that it was discontinued.

My biggest problem right now is figuring out how to get it to TDC and remove the timing chain so I can start splitting the cases. This is my first Berg and I don't want to do something wrong and break or strip a part that is impossible to find anymore.

I am not an expert engine builder like some others here on the site but I have picked up a few tips along the way.

I don't think it is necessary to find TDC to remove the timing chain. I would just take off the rocker cover and remove the chain. If you want it at TDC you could place a zip tie in the spark plug hole and turn the flywheel until you observe it not moving upward anymore. You could also put it in 5th or 6th and use the back wheel to turn the engine. The flywheel nut may come loose if using it to turn the engine over but you are tearing it down anyway so its really of no concern.

Find a copy of that shop manual.

When putting together you will not only need to time the cam (for which there are no timing or TDC marks) and I think? the clutch hub to the primary gear? or counterbalancer or something. When the clutch comes out there is another timing issue besides the cam. I did a quick search but could not find anything.
