been a very hectic week with late working each evening as we go and should JUST about be ready for Sunday only now it's raining hard again!

I've bought and fitted a set of Katoom SMR560 (i'm told) triple clamps that look rather nice. they are 18/20 offset and I have bought and set them for 20mm. this puts more weight on the back by about 3mm. wheelbase up from 1450 to 1453.

the forks have been re-shimmed again but I only needed to pull the BVs so twas easy.

I've also fitted a 2007 clutch hub in order to cure finding neutral ALL the time. bound to need re-setting innit but there....

I've cleaned the mo-scheen and fitted the first prototype needle that has been CNC made - this is for final evaluation before the needles are produced.

I've gone to a (rare for taffy) 13T front in order to run gears 3/4 more often on various bends. this has extended the wheelbase again from 1453 to 1459 but overall more weight has fallen on the front.

I've been having an oil leak from my rocker cover for years, all because I used a pane of glass, soap & water and some P600 to get it flat. well it has always pivoted on the bloody cam bearings so no more oil leak from today. also found my loctite had spread to the CCT and locked it up so it was no longer pressing on the chain....

gone back to my Doma system that goes around to the right and covers the carb exit and ignition cover as all ignition timing and carb work is now done and I may need the left cover off to reset the rekluse...OK I KNOW i'll be setting the rekluse.

I've fitted my first rebuilt shock! my original. hope it works. got a spare. rebuilding an MX shock as well for testing tomorrow morning. I'm also hoping to fit a 10.5mm left hand brake mastercylinder in time to test it as the rear brake feels firm but has no bite. the pipe is so long it takes the edge off the brake. standard is the 9.5 piston M/C.

would you believe i feel all the things I've done to be separate items and therefore individually accountable.

these old bikes need so much love

thaty was a busy week and a busy day yesterday

breifly:
20mm offset excellent move
shim changes in fork - started as a disaster, changed the BV AT THE TRACK and then became beautiful
the new clutch basket works a treat with perfect neutrals
my first rear shock rebuild was spot on and didn't feel any different to the standard one so I think i was robbed when I had it 'tuned' all those years ago!
rocker cover no leaks but now I have a turqoise stain on the side of the head..........
gearing worked and may go further: from 13 x 49 to 13 x 50 as the gap between 2nd and 3rd is too much on an MX track. 3rd struggled while 2nd had it easy.
rear brake was excellent and locks at will
I softened the front by adjusting more slack in and that was great too!
needle on the carb needs lifting to c4 the middle clip so thats Ok then, i just didn't have time. (Doma in the way  )
Doma is too loud so I may try and keep the headers and middle and use an old M&P tailpipe I like.

don't want too many weeks like that but the rain fell last week and I may only have another couple of chances to get it right - if that!

BTW, took the 570 and didn't even want to get it off the trailer...

regards

Taffy
