After burning my legs and pants on my fe550 header pipe.
I fitted a heatshield to the headers of my fe550.
I didn't like the idea of heat tape.
The shield was taken from a Yamaha Wr450 from a stock header pipe,
then I hose clamp it into my exhaust.
Long term I was going to have the orginal nuts welded to the header, as it has 3 holes for bolts as mounted on the Yamaha.
So far the clamps haven't moved, and my leg is now safe.

Would be pretty cheap to buy new or seek out your friends who have fitted aftermarket headers to their Yamaha and the orginal headers are sitting in the shed collecting dust.

That's a resourceful fix. I know E-line makes a generic carbon fiber shield that would work too, but it is too pricey for me. I went the header wrap route myself, for now anyway.

I have no complaints at all with my header wrap. It looks good and works great...
