I got my 09 berg early last year, and bought a scotts damper mount kit, and fitted it as per the instructions.

Later I removed the headlight assembly and replaced with just a plain front number plate, but left the majority of the wiring that was attached to the connector bracket mounted on the speedo.

Just last weekend I found that my kill switch had stopped working.. which with a rekluse autoclutch is quite an inconvenience. Just replacing the kill switch didnt solve my problem.

As I have been unable to locate a wiring diagram for my bike, I decided to strip it down, and trace the cabling from the kill switch back to the ECU.

When I removed the connector bracket mounted at the speedo I found my problem. The screw that clamps the scotts steering damper post to the steering head had been rubbing past the wiring on the rear of the connector bracket, and had worn/broken 4/6 wires off from the back of the connector! 8O

Yep.

Had the same problem. It happened on my second ride.

I cut the plug off and just connected the wires direct.

Gave me more space and no more chance of wires rubbing.

I actually remember scotts saying something about the wiring in the mounting instructions for the 09 scotts post.

Of course I am a male and which male actually reads instructions.

I found this out after I had the problem and then read the instuctions
