Just curious what most people use for hand guards. I just picked up an '09 FE450 and am in the process of setting it up. I cut my bars down (~30") so this makes the bar a little more crowded for the standard style bar clamps. I have the erider mount on my 300 but it doesn't fit flush on the berg without some serious spacers and long bolts... plus I probably need to keep the trip computer/FI light mounted on this bike.

Thanks

We use Cycras on all of our bikes & we have narrowed down the bars.

Why don't you give G2Ergo a chance on the bark-busters and hand shields. The bark-busters come pre-bent to so they bolt right up with out a lot of work and they also sell threaded inserts for the ends of the bars so the bark-busters mount very solidity. If you call 815.718.5860, you can talk to the main man at G2. G2 also makes the throttle cam system, awesome product. www.g2ergo.com

I just put on some Acerbis aluminum handguards last night. Seem great but the mounting posts they come with are PLASTIC! I guess that is why they sell the optional metal mounts, which I will be getting after these break on the first good spill.

I have used many different bark busters over the years from ENduro Engineering, Moose (same as EE), Acerbis, G2, and now have Pro Moto Billet. I like the Pro Moto Billet the best. The EE and Moose ones and the G2 work ok. The Pro Moto Billet ones mount to their own clamp that mounts on the top of the handlebar clamp. I have broken several sets of Acerbis bark busters as the aluminum seems very porous. I use the G2 bar end inserts. I crashed hard at an event earlier this year and actually bent the PMB bark buster all the way back into the clutch reservoir. It didn't break and I finished the event.

I had older (about '98) Acerbis guards on my DR350. They were okay but they didn't fit as well as the Cycras on my Hussy. I think the HDB guards also have a similar system to the PMB - they go to a central mount.
