This really has nothing to do directly with bergs, but it'd be allright to still be on bikes in another half-century or so!
I'm honoured to say I'm part of Ken Bateman's family. He's ridden bikes all his life. There can't be too many left who can claim to have speared off turn 2 when racing Mt Panorama on a bike.
At just off 90, I think he is the oldest member of the Australian Ulysses Club - a bike club here (is it anywhere else in the world too?) that you can join as a juvenile member once you turn 40. They used to set the minimum age at 50, but Ken says they needed more "youngsters" to help the older blokes off their bikes at the end of a ride!
The attached pics are a story from the Ulysses magazine.
Anyway, he came off the Aprilia a couple of weeks ago & banged up his side a bit for the millionth time. For all his problems it won't stop him. He has the best attitude to life of anyone I know.
