Hello,I'm JW and I own a small powersports service/repair shop in Mammoth Lakes,Ca. I've ridden since I was 5 and have owned over 100 different motorcycles,some junk(aermacchi-Harley)-some gold(Husaberg FE501). I've done a little club motocross racing and Mammoth Motocross a few times. Never very well though. I do have a Virginia City GP trophy though.My hands bled for a week after that one. A little club road racing when I was younger in Minnesota. I'm a member of the Sneakers m/c out of Bishop,Ca a pretty kick-*** group of riders.
I currently ride a 2013 FE 501 which replaced my 2007 KTM 525 XC.In my opinion,two of the finest off road bikes ever. I could extrapolate the list,but life is short. If you are a member of this site- you obviously have good taste.
I enjoy dirt bike restorations,and own a 1990 501. Well, what's left of a 1990 501. It's a good enough starting point for me any ways. Such a bad ***,rare bike. It's my pet project,and I know I'll have to be patient,but totally worth it. The bike came from the legend Ron Bishop. I'll be looking to this community for help. I'm ~100mi north of you near Minden/Kingsbury NV.

You guys just started your ski season. Got 3ft of snow i heard.

I'll swing in and say hi when i'm next down by your shop.
 
Yup. I have a buddy with a house in the Pine nuts. One of my absolute favorite areas to ride. As far as snow goes, I don't care about the skiing,I just want to be able to take a shower next summer.

Welcome JW. I'm a little further north than you in the Bay Area. But I've raced VCGP as well. It's one of my favorite races of the year. When have you raced it?
 
Yes,the Virginia city GP. I got my trophy in 2010,on a Ktm 525. Heavy weight novice. It snowed that year. 10th place,but it counts. If you've been there,you know what I mean. I think there were like 300+ bikes that year. I remember using people and bikes for traction at the first bottleneck. I raced there from like 2007-2010,I believe. Good times. If I ever get my 1990 501 going,I'd love to race bomber class. How did you do?
 
I've done it since 2011 though I missed it this year due to injury.

I've finished as high as second in class which I was pretty proud of. I have to race the expert class next year because of their no sandbagging rule -- if you finish in the top 3, you have to bump classes.
