We'll I finally got the bugs worked out and went for a nice long ride yesterday. It was a little windy with about 40mph side winds which made for some interesting manuvers. Compensating to the windward side at times to stay somewhere in the middle of the trail. The trails were mostly on the fast side with lots and lots of whoops. Which I really don't mind, since the Berg handles them so well. I left the house (yep I can ride from my house, without plates) about 2pm and managed 65 miles in about 2 hours 20 minutes. It's such great motorcycle. I'm seriously trying to justify a new 570. But for now, the old 550 will do just fine. I have it geared to the moon with a 45 out back, and a 15 in front. That was mostly for the street, but it works well on the dirt too. You just don't get into 6th very often and your forced to go a little bit faster everywhere, which is good too. I can't believe I'm still on the original cluch. I have about 10 hours on the rebuild motor and 200+ on the original. This includes some dual sporting to work and back. About 1000mi. I'd say maybe more street miles. I started riding with my wifes Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS with the heart monitor to track my progress and map out some trails. It's pretty cool to see the heart rate results during a good ride. I wanted to wear the helmet cam, but my tapes were full. I might look too much like a cyborg if I added anything else.. Happy trails all..

Great write up!!!

I know what you mean about the side winds too!!

I know the 650s have the 15/45 stock setup for enduros. I know what you mean with the way it feels offroad.
Your forced to go a little faster, which is good also. I've gone nearly 90 hours on my 15/45 and will move to a new 15/47 with new RK chain this week. I think i'm going to love it and not miss the tall feel to much. I just wanted to change it a little bit. I still ride some steet sometimes but mostly dirt.
My motocross bike is geared 13/48 so I get the different setup when I want it.
Good to hear you had a great ride John

Thanks Dale/Pollo.
The Husaberg interal gearing has always been spot on for any situation. Even with the tall gearing it will trackor past the pack of moto-converted models in the slow stuff.. IMO
I'm looking to do the similar ride this Thursday after work, about the time the soreness wears off.. Its supposed to hit 70deg. I'll have to helmet cam this time, and do some video sharing.
