Just sat down at work and made a quick scan at the headlines and saw the article.

For the ones out there that doesn't read swedish it says that Highlands Mats Malmberg was killed yesterday in a plane crash toghether with Chase Bales and Damian Riddoch. They had been on a trip meeting investers and was on their way back to Tulsa to their families.
They were approaching Jones Riverside Airport and had requested to land when Chase said something about the fuel over the radio, then communications was out. The plane went down in the national park Mohawk Park, just north of Tulsa International.

Very very sad news, Mats was a nice guy (only spoke to him a couple of time on the phone) with great ambitions and visions.

jocked, in the article martin lind is also mentioned can you translate please?

It says something like that the head of development, Martin Lind, says that he will process this when all families have returned to Sweden and that they after that will continue Mats' lifes work. We're in a big low right now but we'll return. We'll continue this just as Mats would have wanted. "I'm on this ship all the way" I told Mats and I'll honor that!

Firstly my condolenses to the families and the bereaved. a lot of young children without a dad.... etc.

but did you read that first comment by hopelessly human in the link from FC501east?

what a phucking ********! and he doesn't get any better later either!

someone keep us posted on the outcome of this?

someone like to bring us up to date on the story of hedlund/highland? last I heard they were making production bikes in the early naughties? nothing as beautiful though as the lineaweaver v-twin that I saw once here!

Jockd give us the SP on the highland set-up?

could 3 men really afford to employ 30 people?

regards

Taffy

Being a pilot and having read quite a few post-crash articles and the comments that get attached to them, I'm not too surprised. Sadly there are usually plenty of idiots about who jump in with inappropriate comments either without thinking or deliberately just to wind people up (his first one should certainly have been sent privately if at all). At least the news report itself didn't have the usual sensationalised "narrowly missed crashing into a school that was a mere 100 miles away" type of comment.

It's clearly impossible to know at this stage whether they did run out of fuel, and if so why. It does happen as aircraft fuel planning isn't as simple as you might think, or they could have had a technical problem like a leak or a blockage that stopped it feeding from one of the tanks. We won't know for sure until after the investigation, but whatever the cause our thoughts should be with their families and friends right now. Having taken part in accident investigations when I was working on aircraft and having lost friends in accidents, safe to say it's not pleasant for anyone involved.
