Being a pilot and having read quite a few post-crash articles and the comments that get attached to them, I'm not too surprised. Sadly there are usually plenty of idiots about who jump in with inappropriate comments either without thinking or deliberately just to wind people up (his first one should certainly have been sent privately if at all). At least the news report itself didn't have the usual sensationalised "narrowly missed crashing into a school that was a mere 100 miles away" type of comment.
It's clearly impossible to know at this stage whether they did run out of fuel, and if so why. It does happen as aircraft fuel planning isn't as simple as you might think, or they could have had a technical problem like a leak or a blockage that stopped it feeding from one of the tanks. We won't know for sure until after the investigation, but whatever the cause our thoughts should be with their families and friends right now. Having taken part in accident investigations when I was working on aircraft and having lost friends in accidents, safe to say it's not pleasant for anyone involved.
