Hi all
I just like to say that all you long time Husaberg riders that write in and ask how to fix thing on your bike, that is great .BUT, thats not giving potential new buyer a good image of the bike itself, so I'd ask that some of you that have had a good experience with there husaberg to write in about it and let guys like me that are thinking about buying one know how good they are (or bad if that your experience) I know that early models had some issues and that the later one have soughed them out, and how close to a KTM are they
Lets talk about how good they are and not how to fixed all the time . :)

i can't let this one go.....

i'm suprised we get a DH thread like this one from an aussie. others i would expect but i thought aussies had both feet on the ground and their heads up where they belong - on their shoulders.

by their very nature, husabergs are talked about by the people who own them and not those that might buy one. we have plenty of people talk about how good they are but anyone thinking of owning any bike should appreciate that we are trying to repair them, keep them running, avoid trouble, service them, improve them, race them, make them suit best OUR OWN needs. all the above require knowledge and work. that knowledge, in the absence of a wise old man on every street corner, must come from other owners as the dealer isn't going to spend all day chatting about it.

so, and i trust you have, please continue to find plenty of good stuff written about huseys. bigbob once wrote hysterically about how fantastic his 450 was but he made us either sick or jealous or in my case both so we told him off.

i suggest you read between the lines and put 2 and 2 together. if someone says he wants a shiny decal set then the rest of the bike is still good!

i don't think anyone here wants the site to be reduced to wishy-washy lyrical about "your bike is beautiful - how is mine!".

regards

Taffy

The early models are always accused of being unreliable but they only won 10

world enduro and motocross championships with these 90's models.

They have never duplicated this with the SO-called reliable models and never will.

There are plenty of people racing the old engine 2000 and back and there's
nothing like the linkage Ohlins suspension with the 50mm conventional WP forks.

Long live the TRUE Swedish built Husaberg- The greatest motocross & enduro bike ever
built.

Thanks Taffy
Im not asking you to reduce to wishy washy how is mine bike **** , and I can read between the lines and if that the crap you write back then it is right that even on here the poms still whings

Thank Aryan
that is is more like it i have done a lot of reading about the husaberg and other bike and before i part with my hard earned money I just like to hear form the people that have own one

I bought a 2002 400 berg why it was a good deal the guy I bought it from chucked in a set of super moto wheels. But since then I have fallen for it's quirky charm and its not Orange well not all of it. Yes I have had some problems but Sparks is sorting that out for me, and when i get it on the dirt again i will be in heaven again. I also meet up with the WEC race team in Spain and they were a good bunch of guy and fiercely proud of there bikes. Trailbug owning a husaberg is about wanting to stand out from the crowd and being fast. But being handy with a spanner will all so help.

Hi Jonty I like doing all my own maintenance and seeing if I can make my bike run better and yes the husaberg does stand out but maintenance is one thing engine rebuilds are another thing I don't like to do them to often, I went on a trail ride one week end with 400 other riders and 2 were on husaberg and the 2 husaberg riders did not last the week end and I think that is why I don't see one Husaberg around where we ride I think that week end single handedly killed the husaberg around here but that was a few years ago now. Aryan said that the early models were good to race but all bike are good to race when you strip them down after each race and rebuilded them and have a look at the thread in R.I P what the crank and piston did to the motor, no good The more I look into the husaberg the scary it get a TE 510 is looking good

Moderator,
Please move this post to the "Rose -Tinted Goggles" post. Just joking. :)

Bad news travels fast, good news doesn't! I love my Husaberg! even the stickers and flames! I have had 0 problems out of the last 3 I have ridden. I only have 2 complaints with Husaberg, those darn dowels that the shroud bolts to! and trying to sell one is like trying to sell Don Imus autographed pictures to the Lady Rutgers basketball team!!

seems I'm famous for something around here, there and everywhere. I am in the 2007 Husqvarna world Riders Brochure ( full page picture of me on my 05 TE510) probbaly because I am enhusiastic about my dirt bikes and post bold internet comments about them.

Though I am an engineer, I am no more then a weekend warrior beginning mechanic and definitely not an experienced wrench hand at all. Regardless I ride every weekend and I can afford the best. So I ride other prople's bikes often and post my reviews and I buy and ride the best dirt bikes I can find for my ride areas, age and skill. I usually put on about 3000 dirt miles and about 120 hours on my dirt bikes per year here in Sunny California. I suppose if I lived in dirty foggy raining cold England, I might be more pessimistic about the world and those who occupy space in it and post their sunny side reviews on this web site forum.................. but that's not me.

I traded in my 06 Fe450e for an 06 Fe550, because the good trade in deal was there on a price reduced left over 06 Fe550e and because the 450 though fast, nimble and reliable to a T, has annoying gappyness in it's power range in the wide ratio gearing in the open trails for this 6'5" 250lb rider. On single track woods trails, it's sweet and a great reliable fast enduro machine.

Of the 500+ bikes. I rate them like this:

1.) Fe550 light fast , loads of smooth fun power with little engine breaking making it less tiring in the woods and more flickable in the woods, then the TE510. Reliablity - is EXcellent. My Fe450 went 140 hours - no problems except a coolant seal failure at 140 hours. It even eats pencils for lunch :)

2.) Te510 a close second, better rear suspension, great egos, power to spare, close ratio bike. Turns great and has a marveloous planted feel - Reliability is excellent though it did loose a clutch slave cylinder and front wheel bearing in 2500 miles. so reliability is ever so slightly less then my Husaberg in my experience

3.) KTM 525 exc - I have rode two of them , never owned one, Its a distant third in my view - rides heavy and grunty.

GO HUSABERG!

Yes Traibug:
You're right !! Many people ask about how to fix a problem ( included me ) and/or talk about the bike realability. As Aryan commented: Husaberg has more than ten World Champioships with early models including Dellorto carburator and SEM altenators......
Husaberg is the original four-stroke off-road bike, the other japanese and european brands copied its technology. Also, many people believed like XR600 way, I mean almost nothing maintenance........and Husaberg bikes need maintenance thanks the great performance.
I think we must be light with our beloved bikes and care them. This forum, I', agree with Taffy, is to give us more information and support to keep our bikes. Thanks UHE forum.
Have a nice week end. My parts arrived last week and my bike will be ready soon !! :D

" I'd like to know, so here I go, AGAIN" :D :D

C'mom Bob, if you're going to toss out early 70's soft rock lyrics, at least quote the whole line. You left out the most important part!!

1-owning a 'berg helps to increase the size of your left leg.
2-surfing the internet for 'information only about hot chicks'
makes you use your right hand for the mouse and the
left hand for ?huh?.
with these two combined, the husaberg and the internet,
you have a more balanced body, not the usual big right
arm and big right leg.

see I got yous all talking about how good they are instead of how to fix then all the time, this is a good forum for fixing your bikes and I know that is what this forum is about, thank bigbob just what I like to hear, in the next few week I will go down to the dealer and test ride one and see what all the fuss is about .

My '05 FE450 has 8500 kms, and just shy of 200 totally trouble free hours. Seriously, not one issue. The thing rocks!!

100; hrs , 1900 miles, all dirt/rocks.. Very fun to ride & work on. Maintenance is fun!!! Very reliable and confidence inspiring!!! Awesome machine! Husey gets IT done in STYLE! 8)

yup My 2006 Fe450e was running strong at 140 hrs, 2200 miles, all woods and rocks and roots. easy to work on, rides like being on a cloud.....a very fast cloud.

My 2000 fc501 has been reliable, powerful, and fast I ride the woods, trails rocks etc. (I mantain my bikes well, but ride them Hard!). My favorite part though, is that it stands out. A Husawhat??

Before I bought mine I did some research-largely on this site.I disregarded the people who said Bergs were the greatest bikes of all time and those who said they were a lowly pos.I read many posts of mechanical failures and their causes and cures as well as potential weak points(I even read the doc 8O )I was most interested in the input from those with an extensive knowledge of the machine like D.L.,Taffy and others. With this in hand,I went and bought a new 550.It's been trouble free though well maintained and I'd do it all over again in a second.I would have been quite disappointed to get here and find this was merely a Berg cheerleading site.

As for how close to a KTM they are, that depends how hard you twist your right wrist

RE: Re: good things about the HUSABERG

127 hrs, 2300 miles on my '03 FE400. Downside thus far was a cracked stator and a broken kickstand spring... I ride mostly single track but do some dual sport riding. I took it on a 5 day ride that logged 750+ miles and it didn't miss a beat.
