Just finnished washing my bike after some good Easter riding at Lancelin and left it out the back of the shed to dry as I always do.
Two minutes later I hear a small backfire and my bike cranks over starts (by itself) and sits there idling :eek:
WTF... I will make sure the ignition switch is off next time!

Wow that must have been a perfect storm, I had mine cam over from tdc before but never started. Good thing it was on a stand then.

The starter motor was still running when I got to the bike so I suppose with the ignition left on and a bit of salty beach sand and water in the starter switch, that's all it took:cool:
The exhaust was pointing back into the shed with a rag stuffed in it so it started with a bang....scared the crap out of me:D

Ok, An update... After the freaky auto starting incident I played around with the starter switch, stopped and started the bike a few times, went for a short spin all good, it seemed to be working fine, I went for a ride yesterday.... the bike started as normal but 10mins into the ride I slowed down for a corner and heard the starter motor winding over:eek: it was stuck on and wouldn't stop.
I had to pull the switch completely apart and clean the spring, contacts and scratch around the insulator to remove the crap build up to fix it.
I had to push start it though because the battery was now flat:mad:
Started piece of piss.... third gear no throttle no worries:cool:

I should have checked it properly when it first happened:eek:
