Now that i have 2 off road only bergs the 390 and TE250 ,i want to retire the street legal FE 550 to mostly street use put some less aggressive tire set and gear it more for hiway speeds whats everyone using?

those big lug tires wont last long on the street thanks in advance for your imput

Wish I had a direct answer, but have you had a look at gearingcommander.com ?

I've found that Mitas XT-644 are very good DS tires. Mine have lasted a few thousand KM on mostly pavement. Good grip in everything so far. Full-length knobs in a dense pattern, rather heavy and stiff carcass. ("Carcass"? My english is failing me ... is that the right word? Seems rather ... heavy metal.) Hard to put on / take off the wheels but seem hard to puncture too. Not sure if they're available in America.

And - have you considered getting a cush hub to protect the clutch/transmission? Kush sprocket maybe?

Whatever way yo gou please keep us posted, thanks!

I have no ideia about bigger wheels, but I'm running 14-40 on mine with 17'' wheels. I can still ride at 120-140km/h without a problem, may be maxing out at 170-180km/h.

I will stay with the 17 -21 wheels I'm a short *** had to have the seat shaved on all my bikes ;) 14 -40 sounds good not to worried about bottom end
thanks fro the replies
