:D

i've recently had the bike jumping outta gear again and thought nowt of it. as usual it was going to be either the post that sits in the middle of the selector fork that was loose, or the selector 'star' itself.

this had happened at hawkedon my last but one race - the centre post had become loose again, alas the bike was bad at the recent butts quarry and so i decided to have a look but all was good in the sidecover!

so the engine has come down for only the second time.

inside i found that one of the selector forks was grinding away over the middle on both sides whilst in the selector drum, the sharp corners were wearing away.

gear teeth, selector channels and dogs are all in mint condition! selector rods and other two selector forks are good, so are the three rings that sit on the selector fork locaters into the drum. i didn't catch which selector was damaged? apparently GGR has done a few before and it's not unusual...

anyone know which fork it'll be out of curiosity?

just the fact that the old piston has started to tip and is tapping the head was all i found. other than that all was well!

will have to rebuild next saturday so as to race on the sunday.

well i was assured by someone that the selector drum was in last thursday. he was looking at it!

alas, i was wrong, no he doesn't have it. it's on back order and with that:

I WON'T BE RACING THIS WEEKEND.

FLIP!

glad i handed my ride to a mate last night as a precaution. didn't want to bust my balls at the last minute. i just sensed that this would go wrong.

RE: Re: gearbox - i mean "transmission"

what a disaster today...

i started first off the line and zipped around for about 2 miles, then all of a sudden the gearbox played up and i have stripped all the bloody teeth off the fourth gear across from the left on both shafts. i take this to be third gear.

god knows how. i fitted a new selector drum, one new selector fork, the others showed no sign of wear.

the teeth are stripped off the right of the input and the left of the output.

no other damage.

anyone know of a gearbox going as used?

regards

Taffy

Well, I knida had a similar problem with my berg transmission. Except that in my case I only lost one tooth off of sixth gear on the output side. I cleaned it out good and put new bearings in it, now I just don't use sixth gear :D . It's been holding up great, been riding the piss out of it. (literally, cuz my water pump is leaking now :( ) Alas, on Sunday I was riding at a friends track, and after breaking my clutch lever the rest of the way in half, noticed it was kinda sticky to shift and jumped outta gear once or twice on the way home. (Haha, yeah I rode it over there) Maybe I just bent my shifter in my lil' spill, just now thought of that... I hope so, cuz my poor trani' can't stand to loose too many more gears

I think that Dale Lineaweaver has a complete bottom end, or he did, I believe it was an e-start. U will probly need to PM him and see if he still has it. (and if it will fit your bike, that always helps  )

Well, I re-read the message he sent me in regards to it, and he said he didn't know if it was a 501 or 600 case, but I don't know what will interchange with your machine, and he said that it was not rebuilt, but seemed good to him, he hadn't checked at the time, I believe that was in mid July.
