Hi gang....
Have been using Sunoco Ultra 93 in the berg since it landed in my front yard a few years ago. Bike loves it, always easy to jet (at sea level here in Maine, ayuh!). Sunoco just stopped selling it :( here in the Northeast, and same thing apparently happening farther south.
Anybody use a mix of the normal available 91 octane with VP U4.2 or any other race-grade fuels? Any one have a thought as to the best of the normal Exxon/Mobil, BP, Getty, Conoco, Shell 91 octanes??

Gary,

I have been using California 91 pump gas in my Husabergs since 2000 with no problem.

They were designed for this octane grade!

Regards,

Joe

99 octane

And in my papers from Husaberg the 501 -99 prefer 98 octane.
Do you have different kind of scale on octane in the US as you have Gallon and Inch? ;-)

Hi, guys....
jampe : US octane rating is a (R+M)/2 -
In most countries (including all of Europe and Australia) the "headline" octane rating, shown on the pump, is the RON, but in the United States, Canada and some other countries the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, sometimes called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), Road Octane Number (RdON), Pump Octane Number (PON), or (R+M)/2. Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, the octane shown in the United States is 4 to 5 points lower than the same fuel elsewhere: 87 octane fuel, the "regular" gasoline in the US and Canada, is 91-92 in Europe. However most European pumps deliver 95 (RON) as "regular", equivalent to 90-91 US (R+M)/2, and some even deliver 98 (RON) or 100 (RON).[citation needed]
Joe - Thanks! Bike originally run on 91 pump gas by previous owner, Just seems to start and run much better on the 93. Bigger problem is our state-government mandated ethanol. Have a TON of boat owners with major problems due to effects of ethanol on their fuel tanks.
