I had my local dealer install some heavier fork springs for me. After a few laps around the local MX track I found some oil weeping out the fork caps. Its not leaking out the air bleeder screw, but from the cap itself.

Both sides weeping evenly.

Would this be caused by over-filling the oil in the forks or from incorrect tightening of the caps?

The workshop foreman assures me he did not overfill the forks and says if it is "weeping" then this sometimes happens if there is heavy impact over jumps. If things are "leaking" then of course this is something more serious.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone has had a similar experience?

Apparenlty I have a beeg problem. The fork caps have actually separated / broken in half (top and bottom separated, both forks. Unusual problem not seen by the KTM workshop before. I suspect this can only be from over-tightening the fork caps after the heavier springs were installed.

Hopefully will get this repaired as a factory fault / goodwill gesture. 8O

The bigger issue is that my steed stands idle while we await the spares from the factory... So I dont get to ride for a few weeks... :cuss:

Hey gang - happy to report that the KTM shop fixed this "under warranty", at no cost to me. I did not get a proper explanation as to what went wrong, but I guess if they had done the job properly the first time, I would not have had a problem.
