Happy Easter to all

Got to the pine trees the last two weekends in Idaho City it was awsome.
The bike on the other hand wasn't so good at tick over in the twisties.
I've been messing with this for some time now and haven't got it.
I need to understand the acc. pump better I see in the Doc DaleEo timing measurement of 0.100 does this = the 2.28 or .75 sec. that is also in the Doc.
This is where I'am at now on the jetting.
2004 fe450e
165 mj
48 pj
EKQ 3clip dn
1.5 mixture screw
Idle jet 100 stock
Main air jet 200 stock
Mod. muffler no turbine straight thru w/screen Promoto end cap

Thanks
Fred

Think The Best One To Answer This Is Taffy Or Mr Lineaweaver.
Think The Pilot Jet Is Way Too Big For Sure,My Old VOR Started Off With 178MJ 48PJ And 3 Seconds Of
Pump Squirt.
Finished Testing When I Got To 168MJ 42PJ And .8 Second And It Really Rode Nice.
Sold It Before I Finished And Have Now Started Playing With My 450.
I Believe You Can Drop To A 38PJ And Switch To A Pilot Air Screw To Make Fine Adjustments To Small To Mid Throttle
Responce.

You may consider going to a Lineaweaver jet kit. The kit eliminates the AP completely and includes an adjustable air bleed for really dialing in the idle quality at altitude.
The biggest plus to eliminating the AP is inadvertant rich conditions while bumping along on tight singletrack. The bike also seems to run well over a broad range of altitude changes. I normally ride at 1500-2000 ft. On occasion I will ride from 1500 to 7500ft. At 7500 the bike will still run acceptably.

Whats up with the muffler mod??

Thanks kez
I'am sure Taffy will chim in here.
I,ve tried the 42 pj and 158 mj EKQ on 2nd and this seemed very lean and still had the hesitation at tick over ( lots of poping on decell).
I can install all jets for E sereies needle from DOC easy enough but really would like to know how to adjust the pump squirt to .75 sec.

Hi berger
Well you don't even know how close I am to calling Lineweaver, It's just that the pump is there for a reason and should be able to be tuned to work, maybe I don't understand the reason for the pump in the first place.
As for the muffler I had some big gun muffler core and I simply removed the turbine core section from the fe muffler and replaced with open perforated core and bought a Promoto billet end cap with screen. I'am sure the Promoto cap is larger diameter and just don't remenber by how much.
Great sound from this and no louder power seemed to be freer.

There's A Couple Of Ways To Adjust The Pump Squirt,Drill And Tap A Hole So You Can Add A Lock Nut And Thread/Replace Leak Jet And Or Pump Diaphram/Take The Pump Rod Out Completely.
TT Has A Thread With What People Have Found Regarding The Acc Pump,Different Diaphrams And Leak Jets.
The Other Thing That Needs Sorting Is The Timing,Its No Good Squirting At Half throttle.
I'm In The Middle Of Jetting My Bike,Only Difference From Standard Is Its Got An FCR41 And A Akrapovic Silencer With Insert Fitted.
Currently Got The Lineaweaver Needle On C3 With A 150MJ/35PJ PAS 1/4 Out From Closed And Pump Disconnected,Goes Like A Rocket 1/2-Full Throttle But Has Quite A Hesitation 1/3-1/2 Which I'm Sorting Out.

Thanks chilledspode

Reading that thread was very helpfull. i'am on the fence on the pump also and will continue to try to tune in the pump till I resort to no pump.
I figured out the pump squirt time @ .75 sec. adjusted to that and the Doc for the E series needle and hope to test at Idaho City next weekend.

That .75 Second Is For ALL Big Bore Single Cyclinder 4 Strokes,The Pump Was For The 4 Cylinder Race Bikes With Big lairy Cams,They Needed A Little Juice To Get "On Cam" And Little 250F's With Out The Exta Big Sucking Affect.
