just got my first berg.....fe400e 98. minus fuel tank and radiator shrouds. I've tried clarke and ims and no luck finding replacements. any idea where to find these besides the dealer? $300 u.s. for just the tank, haven't called yet about the shrouds. I was told on this model the tank is different than the rest of them as the intake is under the left side of the tank. if you have been to ebay the last month you have seen this bike. it was the berg in a box with the motor and crank case out of the frame tore apart on a work bench. got it for $500 and have a mechanic that used to be a husky mechanic in the eighties, then opened his own shop after the dealer here in cols, oh went belly up. his specialty is pentons, gas gas, and huskys. Closest thing I could get to a dealer as there are no dealers in Ohio. was hoping to get the bike back together for around $500, and $300 takes a big chunk away. If there is anything I should look at while the top and lower end is apart? the $500 can be more, just my expenable cash is short at the moment. Damn shoulda bought oil co. stock instead of communication stock........LOL. While it is apart, can I, and would it be worth it to bore it out to say a 470? I'm assuming the cylinder sleeves are the same. any help on this would be very much appreciated.

i'd say wait for a tank from ebay, or place wanted ads about in places like here on uhe or even craigslist for col oh. seems to me there should be a dealer or former dealer in the ne oh area (maybe around amhearst?) . next closest and maybe a good place to check on a used tank might be a previous husa dealer that did a brisk business back in the day was smitty's in buckhannon wv http://www.supersmittys.com/aboutus.asp ... JAMQ1204R0 they had a pretty good inventory, and their husa mechanic was a packrat. also a dealer i used to use was called beaver creek cycles close to east liverpool, oh. and if you were able to find him, tell him he still owes me $50 for a chain tensioner.

osubuckeye,
I just happen to have two '98 stock blue tanks. I had a yellow one on my 501 that went AWOL so now I only need one of my spares when I build a replacement bike. All of the FE's use the same tank in that year. The FC's had a different part number, but I don't know what the difference was.
Anyway just send me a PM if you are interested in a tank with used, but serviceable, shrouds.

Just FYI, The FE tanks extended farther down the side of the bike on the right hand side, hence they held more fuel. the FC tanks were the same on both sides.

Ah yes, now I recall. Thanks. I have one of those really ugly 21liter large tanks and two of the normal enduro tanks, but never have had an FC version.
