I don't have easy access to the bike right now and want to order up some of those motion pro quick disconnects with the integral shutoff valves.

I am an *****

I looked up the parts manual before posting and found the fuel line listed as 7,5 id per metre and it never even registered that what I was reading was 7.5mm I.D.....

It converts out to 5/16in dia.

I don't see how the 1/4 would not work either. I redid my fuel lines and added inline filters and I used 1/4 tubing.

Just curious, my FS wil never see dirt but the routing of the main right side fuel line is very vulnerable IMO.

I can't believe the petcock doesn't have a 90deg bend to it to route the fuel line straight into towards the carb rather than sweeping down then in - in a dirt evironment like I ride in that fuel line would be pulled off in the first ride by a branch.. right after the primary wiring attached to the clutch cable :)

In short, I find the wiring/routing not very well protected and therefore I will be redoing it

As to the fuel line size, I can't believe 1/4 vs 5/16 inch would make any diffierence except at WOT and I am certain I am not going to be there for any extended time... :)

Solution:

That's what I have on the right side. Avoids any kink and restriction plus avoid carburetor woes.

I use a straight filter on the other side:

Safety wire is in order.

Here is where I got the image from. They also sell quick disconnect couplers.

Also, there are two fuel lines. I don't see how it would be possible to drain the carb and choke it while going WOT.

Good link! The 90deg filter is an option I hadn't thought of....

My thoughts are (for a dirt machine) I might go with a metal (brass) 90deg fitting on the right side, right out of the petcock and allow branch/boot hits on it and protect the plastic filters by setting them inboard more.

Question: Are there not fuel filters on the petcocks in the tank?

I am starting to think I may not have anough room to run two inline filters plus two quick disconnects..

There is a filter on the single petcock like on a 96. There should be but it might be a good idea to check to make sure. The inline filters actually work better as they filter out the smaller things that the petcock filters don`t. A little fuel line rerouting might be in order.

It appears I am going strip petcocks as well... :)

Ah well, I wanted to create a reserve anyways.

Is it because you cant ride right now that you're spending so much time on the bike? :)

The sad truth - yes...

My non riding season is from mid Sep to mid May = 9 painfully long months :)

It sucks to be me.
