So it was late Saturday night, just finished the LHRB install, thought I would put the bike back togethor, get it ready for a Sunday morning ride. I usually have a rule about not working after 10:00PM because brain starts shutting down, but figured I only had about 30 minutes left to finish the job so I kept on going. I stuffed the gas tank back in, and noticed that the fuel line was in the wrong place. I gave it a tug to pull it back out a heard a SNAP. The plastic fitting coming out of the fuel pump broke clean off.
Wanna see a grown man cry?
Can I get the part? How much does it cost? Can I get it time for the weekend? Damn it, I want to go riding tommorrow!
All I could thing about all night lying in bed was how I could fix it. I will spare you the details, but I did find a good solution, that might be better than factory. If you are VERY careful, you can thread the plastic fitting with a 1/8NPT thread, there is just enough meat on it to do it. Carefully install a right angled 5/16" hose barb and you are good to go.
I figured I am not the only one that has done this. BTW, KTM wants $45 for the parts.
