wondering if you lovely people can help me

my bike is a 2002 fs650e supermoto
since owning it i have had a couple of issues ... nothin major as a carb strip and clean didnt half fix.

see the bike has been stodd for a couple of years before i bought it and everything inside was mingin, there was water is the stator housing which i feel may be the route of my latest issue

the bike runs great in lo mode on the switchable ignition timing but runs slow and backfires alot on the hi setting ... i would have thought that it should be quicker on the hi setting but i may be wrong.

could this be one of the first signs of a stator break down?? it runs the lights and charges the battery fine ...

any info or help would be ace

Cheers !!
Rob

Hi Rob,

have you checked the ignition timing?

My 650 used to backfire a lot on one setting, can't remember which one, but it also had low -mid range power on that one too.

i havent mate, i wouldnt have a clue how to in all honesty, i have a basic knowledge of 4 strokes ... never really worked on one ... only really ever had to rebuild 2strokers :(

thinking i might just throw it at taffy or DCR for a once over ... have no idea what to ask for though ... just sent taffy a rather confusing message on his website lol ... hopefully he can figure it out :(
