Hello,

disassembled my -06 engine and found there was 644 welded crankshaft inside. Should i be concerned about this? Exhaust valve had connected with piston.

yeh! you might want to take someones's advice....

Exhaust valve had made a dent in the piston. Been wondering how is it possible to fit longer stroke crank in 628? It was also welded and crank was +0.010mm off. Saw from cauge it was spreaded. Put it in bench wise and screwed hard. Last time i measured it went -0.008mm. I haven't rode the bike yet, still waiting for parts to arrive. I disassembled whole bike just when i bought it and saw that it had the older crank. Cases are -06.

you can fit the early crank in no problem!
the 2001-2003 644 crank is very well made but had the old SEM flywheel on it.
some people feel the 2004 644 crank is of inferior metal, well it is but, that doesn't make the crank bad.
it slips straight in.
you want a maximum of .001-.002mm run out on the crank. you need 10 tins mnimum to press it together or it will twist.
