Hello everyone!
im looking for replacement of my wr450f supermoto..
Im from Russia and sadly we dont get bergs dealer. I study in UK so i could buy it hear and send it back to my country.
I guess I could maintaine it my self( oil changes ) and take it to ktm dealer for valve checking..
Is this bike worth it wasting time and sending it to russia?
Is it reliable enough for everyday rides and sometimes track?
tell me more about this bike please
Could you please post pics of it because i cant find much on Internet..
any help would be apreciated! :)

I travel back and forth to Moscow if there is anything you ever need for the Berg...

Here is mine, But its an FE

If you get the FE, IMO it would be more versatile than the FS as you will get the longer travel suspension. You would have to tweak the settings to work better on pavement when the SM wheels are fitted, but the bike will still be brilliant on pavement with street tires.

thank you. I spent most of my time on the road and very rely i go offroad. I think fs would suit me better

Okay, you know your uses better and the suspension still has plenty of travel.

One thing you might try is an air chamber tank for your forks:

This can give you a front suspension that can be even more tunable and give you more 'plush' off-road if you like your street suspension set up stiffer to prevent dive on braking/deceleration which is one objection a lot of people have regarding using a dirt suspension on the street.

As for reliability - from what I understand the bike is reliable. I've had no problems. Many of the parts are KTM, and yeah, if your KTM dealer was good and understanding, maybe they could/would service it. It is technically a KTM after all.

I ride about 25 miles to the trails, abuse it on technical trails, then ride it home. About my only dislikes for pavement are the short fuel range and the knobbies. The latter you don't have to worry about, the former you can upgrade with aux. tanks.

The bike would make a brilliant SM bike for very tight tracks and twisty roads where you stay under 80MPH - I have seen vids of riders trying it out on tight tracks and they turn inside of everybody else (although some of that is the rider I am sure). I think once you get over 80MPH it will probably start to lose some steam compared to a 650 or an Aprilia SXV/RXV. I've ridden an RXV and while it is not near as good as my bike off-road and doesn't handle as well at lower speeds (I didn't ride it on pavement), it certainly has the horsepower potential for any riding where you get above 60MPH and want to turn it on up to 100+MPH.

I am thinking of trying out an RXV as an SM bike and a potential snowbike (Radix kit), maybe to replace my Ducati, but the 570 is better off-road and in really tight turns. Also, the Aprilia SXV/RXV is not a bike you want to own where you don't have dealer support. The early years had their quirks and problems. I gather they are getting better though.

Thanks!
I dont really trust aprilias... everyone who i know had lots of problems with their bikes

Is FS suspension stiffer than FE?
I like the suspension stiff on both, pavement and dirt... Im not an andvanced offroad rider and the only place I ride offroad is our very easy dirt bike track and the jumps are not very big ( i think you cant jump higher 2m approx )

On my wr i did everything to make my forks as stiff as possible...

I heard the fs could go up to 110mhp. that would be more than enough for me, although you dont need such a high speeds on supermoto :)

I've not ridden the FS yet so I can't say, but it does stand to reason that yes, the FS would have stiffer suspension for the street - especially the front. Certainly it has less travel.

Off-road though you want lots of travel and some 'plushness'.

Whatever suits you.

I have had my FE570 to 90+MPH *indicated* with 12/52 gearing and it was still accelerating - although running out of breath a little. With street gearing I don't know about the top end. I have been told it can do 100+MPH, but I am not brave enough to try that with non-DOT rated knobbies that aren't balanced on a light dirt bike. I would with street tires. Also, you could get the competition mapping and a more open silencer and get more top end. Personally, I want my bike to be very quiet and I don't care about top end for a trail bike. The only thing I need from it is the ability to match traffic, and/or pass or accelerate away from cars, when I do have to ride it on pavement. Right now it is fine.

I agree about the speed - even on my Ducati anything more than about 120MPH is a waste. I find that even on open highways I run out of room real quick when I hit anything above 100MPH. Not to mention the danger to me and my license - in many locales in the USA now, anything over 100MPH in/on any street, will get your license taken away at the least, and very possibly you vehicle impounded, or maybe even confiscated. You might even wind up in jail. At that point it becomes "reckless driving" and if they can they will tack on anything else they see fit, like eluding the police.

Still, whenever I ride my Ducati, I do exceed 100MPH at least once during the ride, but most of the time, especially on back roads, I don't need to go over 80 to 90 MPH to have fun, and the real fun is the tight twisty corners where you don't exceed even 70MPH.

I do like the ability to go fast, but there just aren't any places to do it safely except the track - so I am thinking that instead of the new Multistrada that has 150HP and can do 150MPH, I maybe want a light SM bike like the RXV. The fact that it may be finicky will be okay - I won't be taking it anyplace remote. The fact that it could be a lightweight SM bike and still be used for some off-roading (if you put the knobbies back on) would be really nice. Maybe later I would get a 2 up touring bike again.

First, I need to get a job.
