Are they the same in length?
I was told they are some 30-35mm shorter?..........I ask this because My 04 FS was converted over to FE status by its previous owner.
He kept the Fork sliders (replacing the bottom caps to suit FE Brakes), and rear shock Due to he was a fare bit shorter then me, and had re-valved/built the Suspension to suit dirt.... And it works a treat..... Not to sable in sand. And turns on a dime.

But as I stand at 6'1. I wouldn't mind sourcing a pair of FE forks and shock to regain my ground clearance some. And generally restore the geometry.
Even tho its fitted with a 19" rear. Ground clearance is still lower then I'm comfortable with.

Interesting
Just had a look in the 05 spare parts manual and there is a different part numbers for
FE FC and for the FS .
So maybe the length is different?
My FS measures 622ish from pivot c/l to very end.
Its off the bike at the moment.

Cheers spanner

a while back my 08 FE measured about 620mm from pivot centre to axle centre in the full back position

Ok just put the rear axle in and remeasured and get 600mm
on the FS.
So 20mm shorter than FE, FC
Not sure why an FC is not the same as a FS ,
is`nt a FC a track version of a FS?

Could I use a swing arm from the earlier models? As I see a few about, and nothing for the '00' periods.

Dan
The -04 FS has lowered forks and rear shock compared to the FE. (forks ca 40mm/1.5" and shock ca 10mm/0,4") It's possible to rebuild the FS-forks and shock to FE length, sorry to say I couldn't find what parts to exchange. According to the -04 manual all models uses the same swing arm. (I've also been told that swing arms differ between models but can't confirm...)

Today I went and did a heap of searching on line. One OEM parts catalog claims the Swing arms (450-650) are the same right up to 09. But another states the FE/FC are a different part number from the FS.

So i'll have to take a measurement and see what I come up with.

It showed that all the Shocks (excluding the FS) from 04 up are also the same. Which would make sense. 401mm (FE)
I would think only the Shocks shaft would be the replacement part needed, if I was to go that way?

Forks are a dime a dozen....... And doesn't the USED price of PDS WP shocks go up when you look under KTM shocks as apposed to Berg shocks???? *******s 8O

That seems to be correct Hacker. On my 2006 650 Supermoto conversion all has been done with FS suspension, triples etc. but have the enduro swingarm which measures approximately 632mm compared with the 622mm as stated. It doesnt
matter too much though because I have the rear wheel axle far forward in the slot.

I bought a used swingarm.
Can someone write me why 2005+ models are painted? Powder-coated in gray?
Is it only for aesthetic reasons or also anticorrosive?
My has many cracks and do not know what to do about it?
Polish the surface with a wire brush?

Most interesting.
I purchased my 04 fs650 new with an enduro kit..... no swingarm. just fork, shock, brakes and wheels.....
I will measure the s/arm length tonight.
