Hi All,

I have a 200404 FS650E that sometimes spits oil from the breather into the airbox resulting in a huge cloud of smoke and near heart attack first time it did it!

The bike is new to me (under 3 hours so far) and is my first Husaberg, I have no history with the bike however it was unregistered when I got it in January of this year and had been a track bike for the previous year.

Apart from being a swine to start (hopefully setting the valve clearances along with a full service again to day will resolve this issue) It seems to run well and has only blown oil out twice but each time it was at high RPM normally in 4/5 gear.

Is this a known issue and what can I do to resolve it apart from routing the breather away from the airbox?

Cheers

Oil level should not exceed 1/2 way up the window.

I did that once before. Excess oil blows up the breathers, into the backbone and into the carb. Same smokey experience.

Quite a few off road guys and some motard guys re route the breather . Do a search and you will find many threads about this issue. You can even just attach a heater hose to the breather in the rocker box and run it up to the head stock and top off with a piece of foam in the hose . The foam will catch mist and let it return to the rocker box as oil drips and will keep out any dirt. Be sure to plug off your frame to the air box. Check out Bergoroadracer's gallery and see his routing, very clean as is Husabutt's

You can go first class and use a high speed check valve mentioned in one of the threads.
