Hi,
I'm a newbie in the husaberg world, and when I received my bike, I heard a lot of unknown noise from the air box, the valves... The mecanic told me not to worry because it was normal a husaberg made such noise, and it was ok.

But at the moment, my bike is making a noise which is increasing in intensity over the last month, and it make me worry a bit.

This noise appeared first when I was downing a gear while braking strong : when the gear was effectively "put", I had a noise which intensity was related with the rpm of the motor.
Now, it's the same, but it appears also when I'm only braking, and much louder when I "down" a gear.

This noise seems to me like if something was displacing under the mass effect while braking, and end touching another piece. And it only appear while a gear is put, otherwise it doesn't which make me this it's related to the gearbox.

That's it. Please help me to feel confident riding my Husa...

is there any chance that your final drive chain was overtightened?

to check, rest your chest on the seat and pull the swingarm up with your right hand while checking for tension with your left. afterwards, remember to breath again!

you may have a damagded gearbox output bearing? well any of them may be in trouble bu that is the only one that you the owner can phuq up!

so it only happens when going down through the gearbox from 6th to 1st gear right?

it sounds like a whining noise?

regards

Taffy

I'll see if my chain is overtightened, but I don't think : I change my sprocket 2 days ago, thus verifying the chain tense. Furthermore, I had the noise before and it didn't change.

How can I damage the bearing you told me ? What the wrong thing to do ? I'll see if I've done it =). Is it severe ?

This noise appear when I shift down a gear while braking, no matter what gear is in : 6-5, 5-4,... And if I action the "left lever" (don't know how to spell it), the noise disappear...

I saw thread speaking of a whinning noise, but it isn't that type of noise : mine decrease with the rpm while braking, and for me seem totally related with the rpm and the gearbox. The more rpm I have, the louder it gets when I brake, but if I use this "left lever", the noise disappear. If I put a gear, the noise come back.

Thanks for your reply Taffy =)

well do the easy things first like look at your clutch bearing. and disassmeble the clutch.

If it's just on the over run sounds like a gear problem to me, either crank pinion or clutch basket, or with any luck one has just come loose.

Sparks.

Thank for replies

My bike only score 60 hours, is it possible that I broke something like you're saying ?

It still occurs that the primary drive nut comes loose and this always causes quite a noise.

try removing the bottom final drive chain roller and replacing with KTM chain sliding piece part no 51103053000 you will need the bush as well part no 5110305305, the original chain roller when it wears after use can create a noise that sounds like the gearbox or clutch is damaged when you de-accelerate.

That sounds like the one!

I spent ages with the clutch cover off trying to find a noise like you are talking about. If it was the same as mine it almost sounds like a small stick in the spokes.

I found it by accident by overtightening the chain, not sure what fixed it though as I changed the rollers and the chain guide.

Hi,

Thank for your reply Orangeberg, I'll try that. I found the first ref, but not the second. Could you verify the 2nd ref please ?

Thank you all

Orangeberg had it !!

I exchanged the chain roller with the KTM chain sliding piece, and the noise disappeared =).
However, I don't know what is the 2nd ref, and what is it's purpose (the bush)

When I washed the chain roller, I saw it had 2 bearing like the ones I used for my skateboard when I was younger. Anyone know what ABEC are they so I can put others of higher grade and see if I get a noise ?

Thank you all
