Hello everyone
Can some one tell me is it true that when the front wheel is shoved up under the plastic that it hits the exhaust on the all the FE's and has that been fixed if so,and when the bike is hot can you still start it with out the hot start or is the hot start needed all the time to start it when hot ,and how far would you average on a 2005 550 FE on one tank of fuel as there is one near by with only 2000klm on it that looks good ,I find it hard to believe husabera would make a bike that would hit the exhaust when shock is bottom out but that's what's in a reveiw that I just read, please tell me other wise. what do you think Taffy.

they hit the downpipes when the head angle was steepened on the 2004 model. new headers were produced so that the tyre and downpipes missed each other. all models since have had it sorted with these new headers fitted.

someone else will answer the other points i'm sure!

regards

Taffy

If you use the electric start, the hot start is not needed. If you have to use the hot start to get the bike to start, you are way rich on the pilot/air screw circuit.

The hot start is handy if you have to kick it, but it is not necessary.

Properly jetted, you can get 60 miles or so out of a tank of fuel, average. This can really vary depending on terrain and how you are riding. I've ran out at 45 miles in a high speed sand race, and gotten 70 miles cruising around in Moab.

you were cruising - i was flat out! you are sucvh a star! you know you are!!!

I didn't mean it like that. :D We were balls out frequently, no doubt. We also rode lots of road and hiway, which is where the "cruising " part was meant to allude to.

Besides, if I recall correctly, you were the one that ran out of gas. That means you were on the gas more than me. Surely you didn't forget to fill up your tank before we left. 8O

jeeps! i'm trying to remember now what happened! i seem to recall that on the second day i still had ned's machine and met the new guy down the station so no i don't think i did run out of fuel. ah on the third day we THOUGHT i'd run out of fuel but i had an air pressure build up in corona's fuel tank. got that sorted and we were away (the day we got to the moab dinner late).

well the nice thing about getting nearer 50 is that i'm allowed to forget what i want!

Taffy

thanks for the info that helps heaps as I'm going to look at a 05 FE 550 that puts my mind at rest, the review that I was reading bag the **** out of a 650FE 2004 model about a lot of little things but did say how fast it was and handling was great, it funny how you can read one review and they say how good the bike is and the next can put it down, by the way this review was not done by a magazine so he can what he likes magazines tend to not bag any bike
