I need to add a brake light switch for my front brake to satisfy the local dmv. I have one of tusk universal switches. I need some help on how to wire it in. Is the harness already present or do I need to splice it to the existing on for the rear brake.

you need to look at a wiring diagram and study the brake wires. then you'll see the correct colours on the sheet and can follow them.

we try and save people a few bob by fitting the rear brake sensor switch to the front.

always work from a wiring diagram, talk out loud, pull and follow wires. check they are live. confirm by reading the sheet again and again until it is an old friend.

it would help if we knew what you are working on.
essentially, you find a hot wire near the switch, and run the other side of it to the wire that goes from your rear switch. easy peasy.

I thought I noted the bike. 2009 FE450 US Market bike. Hoping that there is a harness lead hiding somewhere behind the mask, or elsewhere. It shows one in the wiring diagram. But I am still easily confusing with setting up the street legal electrics on these bikes.
