Need to install a new flywheel on my 01 FC550 due to the magnet coating chipping off and was wondering if there is a topic on the removal and replacement of the flywheel. Not sure how to stop the flywheel from turning so I can remove the nut that holds it in place. Wondering if I need any special tools. Any help would be great

Thanks

You must have a flywheel puller specific to the job. On the other hand, since the flywheel is junk, you could probably use a 2 or 3 jaw puller, it will more than likely break using said puller.
Do you have another flywheel? That is the important question.

remember the nut is a left-hand thread = the opposite of normal. use an air gun to remove it with the socket going clockwise.

the pounds to refit is 39.

finding flywheels is a problem and also I think that we haven't looked into this but re-potting these flywheels really shouldn't be a problem?

Ok, so it´s a problem to find Flywheels... does that mean used but functional or is it even hard to find new ones?

As you understand my magnets finally came loose... actually I stand here with them in my hand... :-(

Is there a way to fix it or is the only solution to get a new one?

No you can't :) :

If the engine is still in the bike, just put it in gear and hold the rear brake. If it's out, lock the crank by putting something inbetween the primary gear and the clutch gear. And don't forget it's a left hand thread! Also if you reinstall it with a torque wrench remember that some brands don't work anti clock wise, nearly snapped a piece of my crank before I realized why it wouldn't click!!

hallo!

I used the Taffymethod to loosen the nut, it went fine... but now how do I remove the flywheel?

Is it tightened with something else then previous mentioned nut? Or do I just pull it out?
