Howdy HusaFolks!

Since discovering that PowerCell has an FE750E, I have been pestering him incessantly with a bevy of nitty questions on the beast via PM.

Previously unaware, I thought his FE750E reference was some kind of a joke or similar, but he pointed me to the JPS Racing website, wherein, I became enlightened.

Having just asked him about who else he knows using this engine, it occurred to me that an open query to the rank & file here at UHE might start a small watershed of discussion on the viability of this engine for the FE purpose that PowerCell is using it for.

I have read (and reread) the JPS Racing website, and the idea of riding one these beasts in a solo, off-road mount has really got me itching.

Is anyone aware of use of these motors outside the Sidecar MX world they were obviously built for? (...other than PowerCell of course)

If so, please send some seat-of-the-pants feedback regarding rideability, reliability, docile riding capability when flat out power-of-doom is not dialed on, etc.

Anyone? Or is PowerCell the only potential padded-cell candidate ripping the earth's crust on one of these fantastically overkill, 744.7cc / 78BHP, chain stretching behemoths?

I will ride this engine in Mono bike config.

about 72-74Hp at the backwheel is the goal.

Ask more on the tuner,Ben Ballard ,he will aswer your questions.

Greetings
Madero

Hi Madero!

Thanks for the feedback. I apologize for not fully understanding. Do you ride a Berg with one of these 750 engines in it?

I have been in communication with Ben at JPS and he is an amazing wealth of information.

However, if you, or any other UHE readers out there, ride with this engine in a solo mount, I would still like to hear some feedback on how it handles the slow going where subtle and calm power output is needed in low traction situations like weaving up creekbeds on wet rocks..... or sidehill, narrow trails weaving through trees on wet or slippery surfaces.

I have no doubt this thing will launch as hard as anyone could want (or more), but can it really be a good all-round riding engine?

I might be crazy enough anyway to try one myself without ever really finding this out until I get my own, but....if there is anyone out there who can describe it's overall riding manners, I'm all ears!!

Hello ,

When I get my engine parts I will keep you posted.

for the moment I ride with my 650cc about 65HP on the backwheel, with a view mods.

Greetings MAdero

Greetings fellow members of the UHE, it has been a while since I last posted anything about the 750 so I thought I’d give a little update.

The initial release of the kit in April 2005 went well, there was a good reception to it in Sidecarcross it’s intended market, and also in Supermoto.

There were a few small problems with water leaks, we initially thought that it was a gasket problem, but have since found that it is to do with the head bolts backing off. The instillation of studs with a finer thread on top than in the cases and nuts has eliminated this problem and we now get no leaks.

In Sidecarcross 5 times world champion Kristers Sergis tested a Husaberg engine that JBS Racing built several times. This engine was 750cc++ and we were running a compression of over 12:1, coupled with a lot of other tuning. We snapped a connecting rod during this testing. As we feel that there are still CC’s and power to be gained from the Husaberg, and the results of the testing up to the rod failure were so good we decided to have Arrow Precision (maker of F1 and MotoGP conrods) investigate and design us a rod that can take all of the power of our largest most highly tuner engines. Additionally we offered this new rod as a free upgrade to all of our existing 750 customers, and have included it as standard on all new kits. We currently have a delivery issue with the rods as it is the start of F1 and all other motorsport seasons and we are only a small customer relatively, but this is due to be resolved this week.

The new rods are works of art – they are fully machined on all surfaces from EN24 forging, double heat treated, shot peened, super finished on the bores and final individually magnaflux tested. They are simply put the best connecting rods money can buy.

My thanks go to PowerCell and Madero of the UHE for their patience waiting for the rod upgrade, and to our other customers in Austria and Belgium who have been equally understanding.

Our goal is to make a kit that increases both the power and the reliability of the Husaberg engine. So many big bore kits add power but need constant attention and re-builds. We have taken 2 steps forward with the CC’s and 1 step back in the state of tune of the engine to ensure that we get both things right. Our piston has 3 rings and quite a long skirt compared to stock, the counter-balencer along with its 2 x crank speed bearings is removed and the crank is much stiffer. Additionally we now offer a bearing upgrade that uses a 55kN lager bearing up from 44kN stock.

BundyBear commented on a 1L engine – I am prepared to say that we are working on a 1000cc single cylinder at this time, but it is not Husaberg based. Details of this will appear on our website when the development is complete.

We are due for another BIG update to our website soon, I will post here when it is done so that anyone that is interested can take a look. www.jbsracing.co.uk

It is always such a joy to read about your creation. A true monster. Please keep us updated about the progress and race results!
Now why isn´t there a singles class Dragbike series? Not even in Europe?
Your engine sounds like it could handle some nitro.

Now that´s a bit off topic, but... Me likes nitro.... :D
