FE570 Won't Bleed Rear Brake

I have a bit of a problem that has been racking me for quite a while now.

Last year on my last ride half way through I lost about half of my brake travel and only got a little brake when the pedal was about 3/4 down. At the time I thought it was just low on fluid so I never thought much of it.

Last week I put fluid in with no change. I checked the brakes with my hand and it still felt very soft, but the caliper was firm on the disk. I then pumped, held the pedal down and cracked the bleeder, and from then I have not been able to build pressure up on the caliper.

I have taken the master cylinder off and cleaned it. It did have some dirt. I reassembled but after tightening everything and filling the reservoir up, I pumped held down and released bleeder about 50 times but no fluid went gets pulled from the reservoir.

Any help or suggestions here? I am wondering if the seal in the master is gone, or something in the rear caliper.

Gotta bleed the system from the caliper. Look up reverse bleeding ktm brakes on youtube, can't bleed from the master cylinder....will never work.

Ok, so I tried that as well. I tried pushing slid through the open bleeder screw with a tube and syringe but all the fluid seemed to just leak out through the threads. It never gained any fluid in the reservoir and it too a lot of pressure to get to move before I realized where it was going.

Thoughts??

I had a similar issue. Had to rebuild the master and bleed, no problem since.

Did you have the same issue trying to back bleed it through the bleeder screw? Or did you bleed it with the brake pedal after the master rebuild?

I just ask because I don't understand how a worn out seal would stop the fluid from flowing back from the bleeder to the reservoir.

I just bleed it with the pedal. I think some how the seal gets a tiny leak and the master won't pump well. looking at the old seals I couldn't visually see a problem but with the new ones it was back to normal.

If the system is dry, you might try to gravity bleed it before you start pumping the pedal like crazy.

Rebuilding calipers is a maintenance item I do not skimp on. Keep front and rear kits stocked for all my bikes and do them every other year whether they need it or not. They are likely to last longer but you do not know when they are going until they are going and they can go at the most inconvenient times. Never had or heard of one fail catastrophically but once they start going they progress rapidly.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

So turns out the line was just very air locked. In order to bleed it out I took the revisor off and held it on the ground while I sucked the fluid and air out the bleed nipple with a syringe.

Probably didn't hurt to have the new rebuild kit since it must have been losing fluid already. Hope this can help someone.
