1st post!

I took a 2004 fe 450 Supermoto out for a test ride on Monday, I loved it! I haven't bought (yet) it but am definatly considering it. Ive read the fuel tank gives about 70miles, but I have seen posts about adding a fuel tank under the rear subframe, how much extra fuel does it hold? And is it availible for this bike?

Would you be able to take the 450 out for a 2 week 'tour' without doing the oil halfway through? I see 15 - 30 hours between changes are these maximum? or would you risk serious damage?

The other question I have is once the bike is converted to SM, can the MX wheels go back on and the bike be taken off road? Ive seen SM guys go off a bit on there SM wheels, but I was wondering if anything else needed changing? ( lets say the rear sprocket was the same size on the MX rear and the front brake disc/rotor the same too, if thats possible?)

thanks
Jay

Speaking as another relative newcomer to the site, welcome Jay!

I don't know hardly anything about the 2004s so the only question I may know the answer to is about the fuel tank. There's one just been released for the '09 onwards models, which come standard with a hollow plastic subframe and 70 Degree Racing have made a replacement plastic subframe which holds additional fuel (see the thread "Replacement sub frame fuel tank is in the works!!!!"). I'd guess that's the one you've seen mentioned, though I suppose there could also be a similar tank available for the '04s. No doubt someone here will have the definitive answer.
