Fe450 clutch issue

Hi all when engaging 1st and slipping the clutch to set off, it's not smooth. It's like the initial bite of the clutch is a grab which lurches you forward. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to replace the clutch basket cushions or the basket itself. Remove and inspect... cushions will be obvious but also check for grooves in the basket fingers.

Can you file the grooves in the basket fingers flat? Or is that a No no

Have heard of others filing the grooves. I never have but long as you remove the basket first sure why not. Are the fingers notched?
