me mate chris has a '05 FE450 that he races. he had the waterpump seal go at the last meeting as well that and the previous meeting he was having clutch trouble. i hope i've got this right?

well anyway, he has put new plates in and sorted the WP and oil issue etc. but alas on starting it he can ride in neutral around the village!

he stripped the clutch down and pulled the drum out. even in neutral he reckons he can barely hold the input shaft still?

he hasn't removed the basket yet which i've now asked him to do while i'm here but he's running out of ideas.

he says he has washer, needle roller, needle roller, washer/split washer, drum, tab washer, nut??????? he has no whining noises etc

if he pulls the clutch drum out he can hold the shaft 'nearly' still but when the drum is in and spun up he can't hold the drum still wiv his hand while turning the rear wheel. if any of this sounds like a contradiction then fine! you take the call during the F1 GP next time ok!

i can't ever recall a problem like this before can anyone else?

regards

Taffy

Are you saying that the clutch slips after assembly? If so you may have him check to see if the slave piston is cocked or stuck in the bore. Install gap on the clutch plates good? Not sure what the gap is on a stock setup or even if there is a published spec.. I'm just going off Rekluse experience.

he has 4mm of travel from the newly rebuilt slave. built up stuff? not sure?no the clutch doesn't slip mate, just the opposite.

Newly rebuilt you say. I will take a stab at wrong fluid or improperly bled hydralics. Is the 4mm under load? If so,I would have to think it would work. Assembling the clutch assembly is pretty straight forward.
