Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I've had my first Husaberg for a couple of weeks now, It's a 2004 FE450.

The problem is, I'm not sure if the battery is charging, or if there is even a charging circuit. When the battery has given up, the bike will kick start fine with no problems. But when I put a volt meter across the battery, there is no change in the volts from when the engine is off, to when the engine is running, and even when revving the engine. I've checked this with a brand new, freshly charged charged battery too.

So, my question is,
a) Does the bike even have a chrging system (there is only the two big cables going to the battery)?
b) Why won't it charge? :(

I'd appreciate any advice, as I'm scratching my head over this one!

If you have a batt, you must have a charging system or someone has been palying with one sx stator, wich I don't belive. You only need those 2 cables to charge the batt.

For your bike to charge the batt, your stator will have to produce AC current, then your rectifier will change it to DC (wich is the only one that the batt cam store).

If your batt is not charging one of this things is not working. First you can check the stator values, that is easy.

STATIC GENERATOR VALUES - KOKUSAN 4K-3B
Measuring conditions:
– Cold engine
– Seat and tank removed
– All plugs and the ground connections are in a non-corroding condition, plugs are tightly connected
– Battery charged (if installed) and the light switch turned off
– Decompression lever is pulled
– Depress the kickstarter forcefully at least 5 times for each measurement

Check the generator outlet (also see circuit diagram on
opposite page) for voltage between the following cable
colors:
– Between yellow and brown (ground), plug (7)
disconnected
Multimeter reading: 12 volts +/- 1 volt
– Same measurement with plug (7) connected
Multimeter reading: 12 volts +/- 1 volt
– Between white and brown (ground), plug (8)
disconnected
Multimeter reading: 19 volts +/- 1 volt
– Same measurement with plug (8) connected
Multimeter reading: 15 volts +/- 1 volt
NOTE: apply the black measuring tip on the
peak voltage adapter to the ground.
Check the regulator output voltage (9) (also see circuit
diagram on opposite page) with the cable color
yellow/red, controller (10) connected, fuse (11) removed:
– Between yellow/red and brown (ground)
Multimeter reading: 14 volts +/- 1 volt
NOTE: apply the black measuring tip on the
peak voltage adapter to the brown (ground)
cable.

Charging coil ground – yellow 0,65 ? ± 0,15 ?
white – yellow 0,16 ? ± 0,03 ?

Thanks for the info, I'll be checking the bike over in the next few days, and I'll post here what the outcomes are. Thanks again.
 
the '04 models had the potential for a cold solder joint on the charging coil of the stator (see pic).

running the lights on dc power put an additional strain (higher amps) on it and would not charge the bat. check the stator for burned connections and run your lights on ac. it just requires moving a couple wires from one connector to another
