Hey, sorry to bug everyone again...
But I've got another issue... I took the clutch out of my '03 FE400 (according to the books it has the 2002 clutch) to replace the starter motor that had been removed by the previous owner and now after reassembling I cant get the clutch to disengage at all...
I didn't have a torque wench at the time of putting it back together so I think that the spring bolts maybe a bit tighter that they should be, would this stop the clutch from disengaging? (I'm getting a torque wrench tomorrow)
How far out should the clutch piston move with every squeeze of the clutch leaver? it appears to move about 1 1/2 - 2mm which I dont know if it would be enough to open the clutch plates
Taking the clutch piston cover off, it looks like the piston was full extended (didnt even take a half squeeze and the piston popped out) it obviously was touching the disengaging pushrod but not I'm not sure if it was pushing on the pushrod... am I missing something, because I'm damned if I can figure it out.
On the plus side I am getting good at disassembling the bike and putting it back together!!
Cheers
