Hello sgreen,

The most common problem of this year is the stator, start by taking some resistance readings, should read,
Black to Green 165 Ohms
Black to Red 3000 Ohms

The later reading is the one that generally fails.
Make sure the Black earth lead from the cdi/coil is well connected to ground, and disconnect the orange wire(kill switch).
When looking for a spark remove the HT cap and pull the spark direct from the HT lead.
A good healthy stator will pull a spark gap of around 10 to 12mm on a normal kick.
Let us know how you get on.

Regards

Sparks.

Good idea actually. The original resistor cap is prone to failure. It happened to me too. Now using a cap without a resistor, since the spark plugs have a built in resistor there will still be some resistance for the spark current and it seems to work well.
Regards
