My new 2011 fe 570 only had a 90 day factory warranty so it was necessary to perform all severe stress testing immediately while still under warranty. One of the first stress tests was a series of speed runs on interstate 279 near Pittsburgh PA. The first test runs were with the stock gearing that came with the bike 15 front and insanely tall 42 rear.
Three final top speed test runs were made after the dealer ( smiths) made a few flashes to the software and map and installed the 3 pos map switch the remaps were due to my complaints about lack of power and throttle whack flame outs, took a few tries till it was right finally copied the one each from Laffertys and Fahringers 570 in spring of 2011 cant remember witch? butt the last map flash seemed better so left it on that flash. They also did all the ever essential removals and uncorking’s .I used the speedo and my gps to record the speed biggest difference was 1 mph between the 2 units.
And of course the tests done in tightest speed tuck position I could get my 6 foot 5 inch 215 pound body into with no gear except helmet ( pretty sure I lost 1-2 mph lifting head to read speedo not easy to do.)
1.The uphill test 6 gear almost wide open throttle( wide opened it slowed down) top out at 104 mph.
2.The level ground test 6 gear almost wide opened throttle( slight headwind) top out at 109 mph.
3. The downhill test 6 gear almost wide opened throttle 7-10 mph tailwind top out at 121 mph .
I can feel there is more top end/ speed in there somewhere the valves aren’t floating to bad but not Shure what to change next? The thing that kind of bothers me the most is up over 9000 rpm I always have the most power around 3/4 to just above 3/4 throttle in 5th and sixth gear and always loose top end power with wide open throttle why is that?
