My new 2011 fe 570 only had a 90 day factory warranty so it was necessary to perform all severe stress testing immediately while still under warranty. One of the first stress tests was a series of speed runs on interstate 279 near Pittsburgh PA. The first test runs were with the stock gearing that came with the bike 15 front and insanely tall 42 rear.
Three final top speed test runs were made after the dealer ( smiths) made a few flashes to the software and map and installed the 3 pos map switch the remaps were due to my complaints about lack of power and throttle whack flame outs, took a few tries till it was right finally copied the one each from Laffertys and Fahringers 570 in spring of 2011 cant remember witch? butt the last map flash seemed better so left it on that flash. They also did all the ever essential removals and uncorking’s .I used the speedo and my gps to record the speed biggest difference was 1 mph between the 2 units.
And of course the tests done in tightest speed tuck position I could get my 6 foot 5 inch 215 pound body into with no gear except helmet ( pretty sure I lost 1-2 mph lifting head to read speedo not easy to do.)
1.The uphill test 6 gear almost wide open throttle( wide opened it slowed down) top out at 104 mph.
2.The level ground test 6 gear almost wide opened throttle( slight headwind) top out at 109 mph.
3. The downhill test 6 gear almost wide opened throttle 7-10 mph tailwind top out at 121 mph .
I can feel there is more top end/ speed in there somewhere the valves aren’t floating to bad but not Shure what to change next? The thing that kind of bothers me the most is up over 9000 rpm I always have the most power around 3/4 to just above 3/4 throttle in 5th and sixth gear and always loose top end power with wide open throttle why is that?

If your looking to go fast get a sportsbike, Sorry but it's true. Sumo's are'nt meant to be constant high speed bike's

Re: FE 570 top speed reports with both gear numbers please!!

6/8ths!!!! Mine would show 100 mph with stock wheels and 13-52 gearing. With my 17" sumo setup with 13-38 I'm not sure what it runs but it won't tach out. Can't pull those gears top end but they are good gears for cruising. I've never held my bike between 3/4 and 6/8th throttle but I heard there is a secret sweet spot there!

Either way you look at it, it's a pretty fast dirt bike, By the way much difference between 6/8th & 3/4 throttle ?, I would imagine it would be about the same difference as 1/2 & 2/4 or 5/10th .sorry just had to ask.

I noticed that too Im guessing he meant 3/4 and 7/8 :bounce3:

Re: FE 570 top speed reports with both gear numbers please!!

my 570 get's to about 195 km/h with 15/43 gearing on the dyno maybe more...
But I rarely go over 150 and if I do only for very short time it's not built for speed it's build for wheelys

Re: FE 570 top speed reports with both gear numbers please!!

I'm aiming for 200 km/h speeds on tracks with long straights now. Where I previously managed 250-270 km/h with sport bikes, 200 km/h on dirt bike is more than enough.

When the bike was stock and only Akra slip-on I did 186km/h with stock gearing on street.

yep right at 6/8ths haha Sorry typo on the 6/8 ,the sweet spot for topping out is just above 3/4 throttle and that is not the stock throttle cam i put a g2 kit w/ the cam that req more movement to open throttle not much differrence in the 2 cams movement up there anyway.

Exactly, when i let it fall to far forward in a wheelie my programed reaction from 32 years of Carburated dirt and street bikes is twist to full throttle of course and now after 3 years with the fe 570 my brain is still not adjusting to this well. I rarely go over 71 mph =114 km and the 15-48 sprockets are what i run on it for woods riding, racing.

Hmmm, I never tried going 100 with the 52 on it but that is an impressive top speed for 13-52.

Re: FE 570 top speed reports with both gear numbers please!!

Im currently running 14/52 and quite often see between 140 and 150kmh on the dirt so i think if you were on hard surface with no slip you would get close to 160 ( 100mph) with 13/52. Im going to change to a 15 front because as much fun as it is now it just doesn't take advantage of the engines pull, it just revs it head off in every gear! Can only imagine what its like with 13/52!!!!!!!
