Hi

My 2010 FE450 starts and goes great for a few km's and then misses and looses power
as if it's short of fuel especially on up hills. Eventually dies and after a bit of effort restarts.

I've popped the fuel cap thinking it might be air locked with no change. F1 light comes on and fault code is coolant temperature sensor. Seems to come good eventually but F1 light stays on constant with no code.

Does the computer adjust the EFI according to engine temp ? I'm thinking maybe thermostat not opening and overheating ? Not sure where to start

Any ideas welcome

This is a shot in the dark. carry extra fuel with you have about 1/2 tank of fuel in the tank then when the problem starts pour in the cold fuel see what happens if it helps then I’d think fuel pump. I had fuel sock in the filler neck in tank took off the cap the fuel was so hot that the sock pop out from the pressure

If it's not boiling, i.e. spitting out of radiator, it's not overheating.

Reckon more likely fuel, filters or pump. When it starts again, will it idle but not take throttle? Definitely fuel starvation if that's the case.

Worth while if filters haven't been done in a while to just replace them.

By the way to all out there, the Mahle in tank filters are available as a replacement for a chinese 4 wheeler or sxs really cheap- exactly the same, Mahle branded, made in China! I think I paid $7.50 Aus pesos each!

I had stalling issues on a 390. I went through fuel pump and filters without a fix. So last thing I did was back flush the injector and install a Zip-Ty in line filter. Fixed my problems. Wish I had tried the back flush first.
